Didn't like the new "alternate universeish" world the characters now inhibit?

I thought was a perfect excuse for a new direction!

    Not really. o_O

    ***SPOILERS!**** (Highlight to read)
The destruction of Vulcan was sad and unnecessary. I found the villain kind of...stupid. If he wanted to take revenge, why not just kill Spock instead of destroying two whole planets? I mean, come on. That's just overkill. That, and a Romulan speaking like the average Earth-dweller today...I don't know. He just didn't seem like much of a threat beyond his technology. And a romance between Spock and Uhura?

I DID like the references to the old series, like Bones' "I'm a doctor not a..." and Scotty's "I'm givin' 'er all she's got!" Leonard Nimoy was great.

I do not consider myself a Star Trek fan in any sense of the word so my opinion may have been colored by that...but, that being said, I won't complain anymore if my Dad pops it in. I may even watch it again. ;)

I'll respectfully disagree... I liked the villain a lot. He was blinded by his rage, he didn't care that he destroyed Planet Vulcan.

Me & my brother finally got around to getting a new modem (from Time Warner) today, as our previous one was rather ancient (frequent disruptions in internet availability). *knocks on wood* This new one better do its job well.
    :p

Since when have all villain's plans made perfect sense? :p Spock's always going on about logic, but not all plans are logical to laypeople, just those who hatch them.

Send us some of those cool winds?

Whoever is in charge of the weather here, thinks 85 degrees in October is funny.

I'll do my best, but the Santa Ana's are a fickle beast.

    A humid 80+ degrees, I take it?

    Yep, humid.

I don't like that level of heat even when it's dry.

I don't mind it... it was in the low-to-mid 80's out here today, and I couldn't have been happier about that.

I'm ready for highs in the 60's. It's been too hot for too long.

I'm curious as to what you think about the Santa Ana winds.

They suck. :p That's what I think. No matter what the season, wind is the most awful weather item ever. Give me pouring rain any day.

    Rain > Wind, IMO

You can prepare for rain. You can't really prepare for wind.

We're supposed to get some good rain tonight and then autumn might actually decide to get its ass here.

Oh yes... remember, I'm also the fellow who doesn't mind the shaking from an earthquake. That gives me an adrenaline rush.

I realize the dangers the Santa Ana's can bring, but, I still find something rather majestic about them, especially since they occur plenty in October & November, my 2 favorite months of the year.

The phrase 'good rain' might as well be foreign language/concept to me.

I'm kinda behind on this thread (went to California for a few days--had me some In and Out!), but I wanted to chime in and say I really liked the new Star Trek movies. I wasn't distracted by the lens flare or whatever at all. In fact, I've never been a Star Trek fan at all. Always thought the movies and shows were kinda boring. But the movies were fun!! I was surprised how much I liked them.

Nope, but my sister did. I tried some of hers. It looked like "too much of a commitment" for a full order for myself. I liked them. But yeah, a whole order might've done me in. :)
