You got a point there. The Jedi still didn't have a lot of experience with Sith. They probably underestimated just how resilient certain Sith can be.

Well, he had that giant abdomen thing...

Anyway, Maul explains how he survived in the show:

Like Darth Sion thousands of years prior, and what Vader would do 13 years later, Maul found that he could keep himself alive through his own pure hatred.

It still is a cheap cop-out and merchandise selling ploy.

Supposedly Hutts can regrow vital organs.

There you are. Why not Zabraks regrowing digestive systems?

The new Darth maul toys with bionic legs have been good sales for LFL.

Ye gods. What the hell is that big Ahsoka head?

(I do like the rest of your set.)

I didn't even see Maul at first. My attention was drawn by the giant eldritch abomination that appears to consist of Ahsoka's head attached to a giant Vader helmet. It's like something the Chaos Gods of 40k would come up with.

darth scion couldn't die as long as he willed himself to live, so why couldn't maul? i still think it's stupid but whatever.

*edit* i believe that giant head is from the mcdonalds bobblehead toys from a couple years back.

Hahahaha, it's a fast food toy of the Twilight with bobble-head Ahsoka sticking out the top. I paid $1 for it at the flea market. :D

That's actually a Darth Vader mug this guy gave me for free because I got a bunch of Star Wars stuff from him and he said it wasn't selling because it had a tiny chip in the back. I got my 1977/1978 Chewbacca and one of the Ben Kenobi (with lightsaber!) action figures from him and a ton of those vintage glasses, but I'm reselling most of them since he gave me a great bundle price because I really only wanted the two, and a couple other things.

Didn't Maul say something about using Sidious's teachings to survive?

You kid of course, but like they say, a lot of truth is spoken in jest, and there might just be a grain of truth there.

Some have speculated that Vader trained Starkiller in the reverse Shien style of lightsaber wielding because it reminded him of Ahsoka.

I don't know if that is the actual way of it or not though. It certainly could be, but it could also be coincidence. Who knows what goes on inside the Dark Lord's mind. It makes a nice headcanon though.

I guess knowing that Maul survived his supposed death is another reason why Anakin would so easily believe Palpatine in ROTS.

Yeah, I'm so glad TCW included Anakin in the Maul episodes, it was a great idea and I'm glad TCW had the intelligence to recognize it.

Personally I don't think Lucas ever intended to have Maul come back. I think he just did it to gain more interest in the show. I think it was kinda a waste to have him come on into the show, even though I did like his episodes especially the Mandalorian arc! But he wasn't even in half of the season, like I though he would be.

Darth Maul couldn't become the main bad guy of the series. He wasn't a Separatist but he did cause problems in what he did. I don't think Maul - if Season 6 had gone ahead - would have been in that season, so he wasn't going to become the main bad guy, when he was really a small thing involved in a very big war.

Darth Maul survived on the love of his fans, not his hatred towards the jedi.

I really must admit, I think it's the media in which Maul survived and not the fact that he did survive. If it was some book or comic, I don't think it'd be as much a problem. After all, I never see any fuss over Darth Sion.
