With BLEACH?!?!?!?! just barely on the outside looking in at the playoffs, a four-game set against the last place team looked like a great opportunity to make up ground and put themselves into the playoffs.

And, Tim Duncan made sure game one gave them just that edge. Duncan scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, as he helped to power BLEACH?!?!?!?! to a huge 15-point road win in the series opener. Paul Pierce added 28 points, and David Lee scored 27 and hauled in 11 rebounds.

The second game back home, however, was not as kind to BLEACH?!?!?!?!. The Fast and Furious Floppers had a Fast and Furious fourth quarter, turning a one-point BLEACH?!?!?!?! lead at the start of the quarter (and a five-point lead two minutes into the quarter) into a statement win for the Floppers. That statement? We're here to play spoiler. And Carmelo Anthony, with 38 points and 9 rebounds, was the key bullet in that spoiler gun .

Game three saw BLEACH?!?!?!?! win a wild shootout to reclaim momentum and their chance to get a leg up on the playoff race. Paul Pierce (33 points, 8 rebounds) outgunned Carmelo Anthony (29 points, 10 rebounds), and David Lee (22 points, 17 rebounds) out muscled LaMarcus Aldridge (24 points, 12 rebounds), and BLEACH?!?!?!?! saw a win come at home and a chance to put some real pressure on the other contenders with a game to come against the Floppers.

The Floppers, however, took their role as spoiler seriously, and derailed the momentum train once again. The Floppers rode hot shooting from beyond the arc - 50% as a team, with Eric Gordon (3/3) and Ray Allen (2/3) especially potent off the bench.

Once again, we had a team trying to hold onto playoff positioning, against a team left to only play spoiler.

This time, however, the spoiler didn't get to spoil much.

The series opened with a commanding home win for Griffindor, a they dominated on both ends of the floor. Blake Griffin scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Josh Smith scored 23, and James Harden just missed a triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Those three fueled an efficient offense that shot 51% from the field, and 41% from downtown. More impressive, though, might have been the defensive effort that garnered 11 steals, blocked 9 shots, and limited the L.A. Courtsiders to only 37% shooting.

Game 2 saw signs of life and a little revenge for the Courtsiders. Kobe played the role of distributor dishing out 11 assists to go with his 22 points, and 11 more assists from Ty Lawson helped the Courtsiders offense have just enough to turn back Griffindor and 33 points from James Harden.

That, however, was the last time Jack would smile for this series.

Griffindor played angry in game three, thrashing the Courtsiders on their home court. James Harden lead six members of Griffindor in double figures with 25 points, and Larry Sanders helped create a dominant inside effort to give Griffindor a 59-49 rebounding edge they would ride to victory. Game four at home was another beatdown given by Griffindor, who bullied the Courtsiders so badly you might have thought them to be Slytherin. 25/10 from Josh Smith, 17/11 from Nikola Vucevic, 21/8/8 from Nicolas Batum, and 15/9/5 from Harden were simply too much for the over-matched Courtsiders to deal with.

Two teams facing desperate times hooked up for this four-game series. At the start, both were on the outside looking in for the playoffs. With the right results - and a little luck - one might find themselves with a puncher's chance in the final set of games.

The Tune Squad got (mostly) the results they needed, keeping their playoff dreams alive, putting pressure on Shaqtastic, and ending the dream for Sgt. Pepper, who must now wonder what might have been, if only they'd been drawn into the other conference.

The Tune Squad got the series rolling with a rousing home victory. Kenneth Faried manned the inside - 12 points, 16 rebounds - and Dwyane Wade had a hot shooting touch - 20 points on 8/12 shooting - to fuel the victory for the Tune Squad. Those two overcame a mammoth effort from Russel Westbrook (26 points, 10 assists, 8 rebound), and put Sgt. Pepper into must-win status for game two.

And that must win was an emphatic win. Six players scored in double-figures, lead by 20 from Westbrook, and a stingy, but smart defense lead to a 20-point win for Sgt. Pepper. The defense was stingy - holding The Tune Squad under 40% from the field, but smart - they limited The Tune Squad to only seven attempts from the charity stripe. And with that, it looked as if momentum was sitting with Sgt. Pepper.

But, that momentum lasted all of one quarter, as the Tune Squad blitzed early and often, owning the first quarter as they rolled to a very important road win. Greg Monroe (23 points, 11 rebounds) and Kenneth Faried (10 points, 15 rebounds) did the heavy lifting to muscle their team to a win, and put their playoff hopes on their backs.

That brought us a crucial game four, at home, for The Tune Squad. Sgt. Pepper fought valiantly, but didn't quite have enough down the stretch. A miss by Jarret Jack, followed by Vince Carter having his shot swatted away by Serge Ibaka kept Sgt. Pepper from keeping momentum, and good free throw shooting from Greg Monroe down the stretch was enough to seal the win for the Tune Squad, keep their faint playoff hopes alive, and extinguish playoff hopes for Sgt. Pepper.

The Knight Shift vs. Boogie and the Indecisions

With one game separating these two teams in the chase for the final playoff spot in the NBA Conference, both teams could call this a "must have" series. Take three - or four - games, and control your destiny to get into the playoffs and have a chance to be fodder to LeBron and the Frontrunners. Anything less than that, and it's a game of chance in the final two games.

Game one saw that certainty, that intensity, and that desire to control destiny come from Kevin Durant. The second best player in the game today gave a monster performance - 31 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists - in an effort that ultimately proved not enough. Durant's individual effort was trumped by the inside-outside duo of Brook Lopez (31 points, 14 rebounds) and Chris Paul (11 points, 15 assists) to lead The Knight Shift to a home win to open the series.

Game two saw another monster effort from Kevin Durant, with 17 points and 11 rebounds, but this time he got help in the form of DeMarcus "Boogie" Cousins. Boogie poured in 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the team pull out a win at home in the forum. Boogie lead with way with 8/12 shooting from the floor - as a team, the Indecisions shot 52% from the floor - and 9/9 from the charity stripe (as a team, the Indecions shot 31/34 from the line).

Game three again saw the Knight Shift grab an edge in the series with a road win. Brook Lopez and Chris Paul replicated their tango from the series opener, and Glen Davis made it a party of three to seal the win. Lopez had 26 points and 15 rebounds, Paul added 21 points and 17 assists, and Big Baby poured in 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to get a key win for the Knight Shift, and give them a real shot at postseason play.

Game four, however, saw a dominant road win for Boogie, putting post season hopes for The Knight Shift on Life Support. Kevin Durant scored 23, Boogie grabbed 15 rebounds, and 11 Rajon Rondo assists helped Boogie and the Indecisions shoot 55.8% from the field - including 50% from beyond the arc - while their opponents shot only 38%.

A highly anticipated showdown of the top two teams in the NBA Conference was what many thought was a preview of the conference finals. The only question - would LeBron and the Frontrunners demonstrate more unparalleled dominance, or would Game, Blouses prove that there was a true test for the conference title?

Game one saw the Frontrunners take the win at home through a balanced effort and some great long distance shooting. James, as expected, lead the team with 22 points and 14 rebounds, but he was one of six on his team to score in double figures, including 19 and 15 from Al Horford. As a team, the Frontrunners shot 48% from the field, and hit 11 of their 22 triples, lead by a 4/6 effort from Derron Williams.

Game two put LeBron James in Madison Square Garden, a place he loves to shine. And, shine he did. James scored 29 points, dished out 11 assists, and grabbed 8 rebounds. But, that wasn't quite enough, as Dwight Howard and Anderson Varejao paired up for an unstoppable duo on the inside, leading to a dominance on the glass that helped Game, Blouses get the W. Howard scored 16 and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Varejao grabbed 13 rebounds in only 13 minutes of action, providing a 60-45 rebounding margin for Game, Blouses, and giving them enough of an edge to get the win.

LeBron again shined on the MSG stage in game three, this time getting a triple double, with 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists, However, once again it wasn't quite enough. Tony Parker, Dwight Howard, and J.R. Smith all scored 18 points and a smart defense limited chances for the Frontrunners. LeBron and the Frontrunners only got to the free throw line 7 times - and made only 2 of those attempts, compared to a 13-of-17 performance for the home team.

A return home got LeBron and the Frontrunners back in the win column, split the series, and fully wet the appetite for a potential showdown in the conference finals. James scored 30, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists, as fans everywhere were left hoping we get seven more from these two teams.

 

Heads for Hibbert vs. Shaqtastic - 29 Points

The Battle for Ohio had two clear storylines. Two playoff teams facing off, with the winner having an inside track to the first-round bye. And, the guard/perimeter play of Shaqtastic taking the shores of Lake Erie up against the interior defense and chili of Cincinatti's Heads for Hibbert.

Game 1 in the Q gave a clear early edge to Shaqtastic and their young guard combo. And, J.J. Hickson had something to say about Heads for Hibbert having the edge inside. Kyrie Irving lead all scorers with 26 points, and John Wall had 11 points and 12 assists. It was Hickson, however, who might have provided the biggest spark. He scored 13 points, and grabbed 24 rebounds. More impressive, his 13 offensive rebounds were more than the entire team of Heads for Hibbert combined.

As the series shifted to Cincinnati, Heads for Hibbert flipped the switch, and their defense lead the way to victory. Steph Curry lead all scorers with 21 points, and Wall and Irving struggled against the shutdown defense. Wall shot 6/13, Irving shot 6/19, and the entire Shaqtastic team shot 39%. In a bit of irony, the only place Shaq's team shot well was the free-throw line.

Tired legs and a lack of depth failed Shaqtastic in the 4th quarter of game three. In the final three minutes, Shaqtastic scored only two points, as Heads for Hibbert pulled away to get the win. Paul George turned in a fanstastic effort with 27 points and 9 rebounds, and Heads for Hibbert shot 48% from the floor and 50% from downtown, and went 14-of-15 from the charity stripe.

Back in Cleveland, Shaqtastic withstood a barrage of threes from Heads for Hibbert and a combined 48 points from Steph Curry and Mike Conley to get the sweep. Lucky for them, most of those threes (16 of the 24 shot by Heads for Hibbert) were missed. Shaqtastic were also helped out immensely by J.J. Hickson (18 points, 23 rebounds) and Andre Drummond (12 points, 18 rebounds, 7 blocks) dominating the interior.
