    Generally the garrote is preferable. Not as messy.

    Also, fwitw the first option is rather impractical. Everyone knows that as the head is tilted back the arteries of the neck recede slightly, and so greater force is actually needed to slit the throat. It's better to force their heads forward, allowing a quicker slice.

    I didn't look him in the eye, the one time that I did murder someone, so I guess no. I don't plan on repeating it, though, so it's hardly a habit. I don't know what to answer.
