JCC ITT you admit which movies you haven't seen that everyone else has

Not to mention that the Matrix sequels did a good job of ruining whatever appeal the original movie had.

 

It's not just a technical achievement movie, everything about is great. And I don't know why trilogy is in quotations unless the definition of trilogy has changed over time.

 

The Matrix isn't a classic, nobody gives a **** about it anymore and kids won't be watching it thirty years from now like Star Wars.

It's entertainment value is entirely reliant on visual effects, which were ground-breaking at the time, but the world has caught up.

If it's story wasn't a complete and total joke, maybe it would still be relevant.

Plus, if I know Tracy's taste, she'll hate the story. Think Mortis, Tracy.

 

Okay, it's fine if you hate the story. Just say that. Saying you shouldn't watch a movie simply because the special effects are outdated or not as groundbreaking is silly.

 

What ever happened to that former mod, "The Matrix is overrated."?

Wock, I am certain now you troll just for trolling's sakes when you constantly deride the best, most watchable and quotable movie of the original SW films. I'm not buying your BS so you should just quit that now and forever more.

That said, Avatar isn't unwatchable just because it is a tech demo. It's mostly unwatchable because of its very derivative story we had already seen before in films like Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves and The Last Samurai, among others.

 

Okay, but she's never seen the film before. Once you remove the special effects, what is there to recommend the film? What else was great about it?

 

It's probably the only film adaptation of The Invisibles that we'll ever get?

Well, I'll just close by noting that one of the principle flaws of the Matrix sequels is that they ruin the central premise of one another. The series tried to re-insert tension into the narrative by suggesting not only that the messiah phenomenon was not only pre-planned, but that the robots had fully compensated for it. They could endure the wholesale loss of humanity, their worst case scenario. No matter how powerful Neo got, they could always just shut off the Matrix. There were, as the Architect said "levels of existence we are willing to accept." Yet, in the very next film, the machines assert that Agent Smith, an entity confined to the Matrix as much as Neo is, is somehow unstoppable. Why wouldn't the exact solution have worked?

These were terrible movies.

 

That was his last "good" movie too, and a month later, The Wicker Man comes out.
