Further -- and without knowing any spoilers for Thor: The Dark World -- it seems like one of the main themes of Phase 2 MCU is going to be "who watches the watchers" or "the laws of unintended consequences" which should dovetail nicely with Avengers 2 given the theorized origins of Ultron in the MCU...

 

This looks like a summer blockbuster, so why is it getting released in April? Is Marvel Studios being ambitious and pulling a "Twister" and making a new release date the kick-off summer starter?

I am cautiously optimistic. I am far more intrigued by this movie than I am for Thor 2.

 

I haven't watched the trailer yet, but i will say with confidence that you are all overreacting with both optimism and pessimism.

It looks....explodey.

I didn't rate the first movie that highly, although it was bad it seemed lacklustre. This looks better and it will probably do well but I don't expect greatness from it.
Plus with a villain somewhat unknown to those who aren't readers of comic books (compared to Red Skull who is far more widely known) it may not attract as much at first.

 

I it just me or does Black Widow actually looks more attractive now?

 

Looks like they are borrowing a bit of the story line of Civil War.

Many moons ago when I played Classic Marvel RPG I played Captain America a couple of times. Great stats! Perfect human and such. And I'll be damned if those damned dice, no matter which ones I used, just would not come through. It felt like playing a 1st level D&D character trying to fight a few levels over his head.

 

Are they going to give her a new hairstyle in each movie?

 

I hope in Avengers 2 she has an afro Mohawk combo.

 

I know domino masks are hard to take seriously, but I'm not a fan of the Winter Soldier's look. I thought it would look better based of the concept art, but the last shot of the trailer, with him all crazy-eyed holding the shield, looks ridiculous.

Pretty cool to see them repurposing the "Cap is so badass he uses no parachute" thing from The Ultimates #1.

And was that empty room with the SHIELD logo supposed to be one of Nick Fury's safehouses? Because awesome if it is.

 

Well, she is a spy.

 

Looks MUCH better than the first one. Can't wait.

And BW has a better hairstyle.

 

The first one was a lot of fun, so I look forward to this one as well.

Honestly, if this doesn't turn out to be the plot I'm going to be extremely disappointed.
