Ah Platt's Starport Guide has a rather awesome chapter on that. I think you own that one (thought that might have been someone else), otherwise I can try to scan it on Saturday or Sunday.

You can go to a site Called d6holocron and find every WEG guide and supplement. Just google it. :) that's where I downloaded practically every WEG product, even though I have 95% in print.

I started Eleven-ThirtyEight with the intention that ideally, the pieces we post would have news value themselves, rather than regurgitating news from other places. I think Mechalich's new Go Figure article qualifies.

This thing is going to shape the discussion in here for a long time.

Is this the right time to say that I am beginning to imaging Streen looking like Morgan Freeman?

He could play them both! Streen with a beard, Cal Omas without!

This is kind of an obtuse question but if a Twi'lek with red skin and a Twi'lek with blue skin have kids then do their kids look purple?

That would depend on how skin pigmentation in Twi'leks is determined. It's probably multiple genes involved, with several alleles and a whole bunch of confounding factors. So without a lot of extra data that we'll almost certainly never get there's no real way to know.

There really haven't been a lot of Twi'leks presented who are members of the same family, and certainly not over multiple generations, for us to even get an idea - there might be some background shots in the Ryloth TCW episodes you could study, just to see what they showed.

Red and blue producing purple is unlikely though - that would require blended inheritance, which is rare. Discrete alleles each coding for a specific pigment color is more likely, though again, we have no way to be certain.

Well as obnoxious as it is, the Lawquane kids should count for something here--at least where human pigmentation is concerned, their inherited Twi'lek coloration does indeed become mottled.

How old is she suppose to be? It is the age thing that really makes me disbelief the idea that she is Cut's childe

Not sure if this has been noted before, but I recently had a look at the New Jedi Council:

    Luke Skywalker- White human male
    Corran Horn- White human male
    Kyle Katarn- White human male
    Kyp Durron- White human male
    Kenth Hamner- White human male
    Mara Jade- White human female
    Jaina Solo- White human female
    Octa Ramis- White human female
    Cilghal- Mon Cal female
    Saba Sebatyne- Barabel Female
    Barrakt'l- Yuzzem Female

I also had a look at the dramatis personae for most of the LOTF books, the only important characters who weren't white and human were Alema, Saba, Niathal, Lando, 3PO, and Vevut. The others only appeared in 1 or 2 scenes.

Do these writers have any imagination when it comes to character designs?

You might want to read the first post of the thread. ;)

But short answer- no, they are an unimaginative lot.

If you read through the background of this thread, you'll find that a great deal has been said about just that--in fact, the council in LotF was largely responsible for the original Diversity Thread a handful of years ago. The thing is, no one ever sat down and dreamed up ten white folks to be on the council--what you're noticing is the accumulation of primary characters from older stories, who stuck around by virtue of their importance and/or popularity--and primary characters are the ones most likely to be white and male. Corran's a great example--the X-wing books were fairly good at including a large, diverse cast of characters, but forty IU years later, Corran's the only one still relevant to the "fate of the galaxy" narrative.

Edit: and there I go trying to be diplomatic. :p
