If he was plotting to be revived in a cloned body, Palpatine may have decided to instead clone Anakin, imagine his DE incarnation in the Chosen One's body. He would be unstoppable.

Anakin got cloned in the Galaxy of Fear series. It didn't turn out well.

Cloning Force Users comes with a lot of fun problems, just like we actually get to see with Palpatine who clearly just goes insane in Dark Empire.

But he was already cloning a Force User (himself) so why not go for the best vessel anyway?

If you have the option, why not go with your own body? Also Palpatine is clearly much stronger in the Force then Vader ever was.

I got cloned on the Temp boards. It didn't work out well, either.

Becuase there is someone better than your own body? And Palpatine is stronger than Vader, full potential Anakin? **** no.

It is knowledge in the Force and skill which develops one potential, so if Palpatine could get a young Anakin body + his own knowledge in the force, he would immediatly attain Anakin's full potential.

    Here's a more interesting question.

Why didn't Palpatine clone himself ... a billion times? That would have made the ultimate army?

Why did Palpatine use the clone choice as an insurance option? Why just one? Why not a gazillion?

How so? Redhead is always better then blonde :p

Certainly much stronger in the Dark Side.

Or not since he learned his force skills in his own body and we know not all Force Users use the Force the same way or even perceive it the same way.

What gives you the idea the other clones would even listen to him? There is a reason why he made them mental blanks.

He seeded the galaxy with Clones, a lot got destroyed by his "loyal minions" before he could get to the ones on Byss.

"What gives you the idea the other clones would even listen to him?"

He could put another version of the "ORDER" system in their heads, ie: Order 66

Eh...... I doubt they would be as able to program with Orders as Jango Fett clones. I think Anakin Clones could get easily controlled unlike the Anakin Clone the user above talks about by making it a mental blank, like Palpatine Clones.

But an army full of Palpatine Clones through attempt to implant Orders through raising? Not a chance, it is an absolutely lose-lose situation, and I mean that EVERYONE would lose horribly here, including the whole Force.

First of all Original Palpatine would lose, he would get gangbanged by a group of clones, then Palpatine's clones would kill each other while of course ravaging the Galaxy with Force Storms, eventually causing wounds in the Force so deep that some of them may even get exotic effects like becoming like Nihilus. Eventually either a single clone of Palpatine would stand as survivor having absorbing in himself all that Dark Side energy destroying everything or the entire Galaxy and eventually the universe gets ravaged by Palpatine Clone Army.

The whole 'cloning of Force sensitives' bit is fraught with problems, and the EU has given mixed messages on the matter. Still, it does seem to have been, in general at least, much more difficult than cloning non-sensitives. Ergo, Palpatine cloning empty shells of himself was a risk management strategy that allowed him to maximize his ability to transfer his essence into new bodies.

Palpatine's cloning strategy was about keeping himself alive and in power. He did not, for the most part, have a shortage of Force users to utilize as random minions - he only went after Luke because he wanted a suitable apprentice/heir/vessel and Anakin wasn't suitable.

Palpatine probably did experiment, at least in theory, with transferring his essence to the clones of others. Clearly he rejected that plan for some reason or other. Given the mess surrounding cloning of Force sensitives, that's justification enough.

Simple Dark Empire was in 92/93 and the PT had not been covered or was even allowed to back then

Just look at the TFU 2 databank!

He knew that Order Sixty-Six had not been hardwired into the clones by the Kaminoans who had grown them. - Dark Lord

Given the Emperor Reborn and Crazy C'Baoth, my personal canon is that cloning Force sensitives results in clone madness.

What exactly makes you think Palpatine had Vader's DNA to clone him at all?

More often than not nothing good comes from cloning Force Sensitives anyways.

C'baoth? Clone madness. Palpatine's own clones? Deterioration and probable clone madness. Starkiller? Clone madness and mutated freaks. Luuke Skywalker? Clone madness. Thrawn's Frozen Moon Clone experiment? Clone madness.

I don't see how the cloning Force-sensitives issues are relevant here because Palpatine's own body, which Palpatine did clone, is also Force-sensitive. The question this thread is asking isn't, "Why not clone a Force-sensitive?" but rather "Why not clone a stronger Force-sensitive rather than a weaker Force-sensitive?"

It's an issue because a very good argument could be made for Palpatine having suffered from clone madness which then would've happened no matter who he chose to clone and inhabit, and the acknowledged deterioration his clones were suffering from due to his Dark Side power which is why at the end he was no longer attempting to make clones but to take over Anakin Solo's body.

You know you're just asking for a reply about insane clones, right? :D

(j/k. You know I love you.)

As far as Palpatine and Anakin, they were both bat*** ****ing nuts in their non-clone incarnations, so "unstoppable" isn't the word I'd use for a cloned Palps inside a cloned Anakin.

And you think he'd have access to said DNA over 20 years later after he's died once?
