Yeah, you're probably thinking of Dantooine. It does heavily resemble that.

Oh yeah I forgot that was Dantooine. Thanks. Maybe a bit too open but not impossible, especially since it's been mentioned in a movie already.

They should shoot in my backyard. I can provide the camera and I have juice boxes for cast and crew. ;)

The first photo in group two is Monument Valley which is on tribal land on the Utah/Arizona border. The fourth photo in the third group is Bryce Canyon in Utah. The New Mexico that I have seen looks mostly like the other photos in group three. It could pass for Tatooine or some sage brush hillsides. They have mountains and seasonal snow there as well.

It honestly depends on where they film in New Mexico. Having driven through the state twice, there's more to it than barren deserts (and incidentally, it also has the most beautiful night skies).

Watching season two of the clone wars, and the white sands of New Mexico look a lot like Mandalore. Could the super commandos be part of the new trilogy?

Hmmmm, the white sand desert pictures from The Hellhammer's post and the sun-dried white sand deserts around Sundari do have a resemblance:

Perhaps an encouraging sign that Mandalore could make an appearance in at least one of the films? I for one would love to see the most prominent warrior culture of the SW universe in a live-action movie! Those dar'manda pacifistic New Mandalorians are no more! Let the True Mandalorians reign again!

Side note: It would be nice if discussion on Mandalorians appearing in the ST, or perhaps in spinoffs, could be revived.

Hmmm, looks like we need to enlist some professionals for help with this!

"New Mexico is sparely populated. If the trace is correct we should be able to find the filming crew quickly, Master."
"Move against Producer Bryan Burk first, my apprentice."
"At last we will reveal Ep 7 location shooting to the Internets. At last we will have our revenge."

I hope Mandalore doesn't feature in the ST... I think they were done to death in TCWC, and whilst they were ok, they didn't do that much for me... they seemed to be providing a bit of fan service.

I adored Sundari and Mandalore as a whole in TCW. Nothing against it in ep7. ;)

I would rather not see very distinctive Monument Valley in a STAR WARS movie. That would be like putting Devil's Tower or Diamond Head in one.

I'd be surprised if J.J. "Wah, I don't want to take my family to England!" Abrams will do any location shooting outside of the U.S. but maybe they'll at least gather some plates from different parts of the world. What's Ron Fricke up to these days?

The-Eternal-Hero: Levittown is my favorite suburb for excitement. It ranks up there with Drexel Hill's slums and Coatesville's mansions.

I don't expect there to be any major location shooting outside of the US... (because I'm hugely cynical of JJ) but I'm hopeful that they'll really utilise Skye if they are there (I have a holiday home there)... :)
