ST Is Arndt working on VIII? New article hints at it.

I really liked Cloud Atlas as sort of a (but not really) career comeback for those two directors, so I am excited to see this one as well.

 

There's also the fact that Dooku had been a Jedi and was the one who recruited Jango to be the clone template, so it isn't hard to connect the dots back to him and Sidious.

I'm sure they at least have a plan for VIII, but I do not think they're on the script yet. Are they even done with VII?

 

He deviated way too far from the books. I'm still confounded to this day how so many people like it. For me, Azkaban was such a radical departure from the books, and it also felt totally different than the preceding two (which I loved).

 

There were not obvious plot holes in the PT, but whatever.

 

I can't believe yet another thread has degenerated into a "I want so and so to direct" when we haven't even seen JJ's Episode 7 yet.

Oh, wait -- the is TF.N Forums -- ah yes I can. Carry on . . . .

Just for the record I think we should wait and see how JJ does before we replace him, although I, too, can understand the basic philosophy of wanting a different director for each episode like the OT.

 

I want George Lucas to direct VIII.

 

I want Theo Barklem-Biggs to direct all the love scenes.

 

I'm all for Peter Jackson directing Episode VIII. He'll split it up into three parts, then do a not-entirely-needed prequel film...also for some reason needlessly expanded to three parts. Then someone else can come in and do Episode IX.
I'm all for an eight-part trilogy. Douglas Adams would be proud.

 

Let's NOT forget that Jackson would create characters from out of thin air that didn't exist in any of the previous six films or 7 for that matter. Then he'd bring back a character just, say like Wedge Antilles and focus the movie around him just to give legitimacy to this made up character. Oh, and Benedict Cumberbatch will be in it too!

 

Well, in that case I guess the EU folks would get some attention, eh?

I always felt the same too. It also introduced the SuperFemaleSideckick Hermione doing all the cool things the other two boys should have done, which unfortunately stuck to the movies till the end...

 

Well it's a good thing Episode VIII won't be based off any books.

 

If Jackson directed it, EVERY EU character would find their way into the movies somehow - even if they had no business being there.

 

Jackson directing SW would be like the overlong scenes on the boat going to Skull Island in the King Kong remake.

 

I'd like to see Jackson direct a Meet the Feebles style spin-off set in Jabba's palace. Box office gold I tell ya!

 

Which is why I have been talking about him for Star Wars since before Gravity, I see VIII as being the dark cliff hanger and IX being the happy ending pulling all of the threads together. As much as I want JJ to do a stellar job with VII, I want the others to be done with other directors.

 

I want Chris Columbus to NOT do one.

 

I know we all love to talk directors, but lets keep on track here.
