ST Is Arndt working on VIII? New article hints at it.

If what I've read and heard is correct. Arndt was involved in fleshing out the entire trilogy, not just working on the shooting script for Episode VII. In other words, Lucas' treatment spanned three movies and on the basis of Arndt's expansion, Disney bought Lucasfilm. Is that correct?

A Star Wars episode directed by the Wachowskis would be very cool indeed.

Yeah but it might get too bogged down in philosophy and metaphysics.

Yes please! This is probably better suited for the director thread, but in my wildest dreams I'd love to see a Wachowski Star Wars movie, and I think they'd make an amazing one. Somehow though I think their vision would be too big to work under the guidelines of someone else's franchise. Perhaps if they were given a more creative role from the beginning of the trilogy like J.J., but for them to just step in and direct a second or third movie... I just don't see that happening.

It was also shot by none other than David Tattersall, who shot all of the prequels.

I'm unaware of these crappy Matrix movies of which you speak. Are there five of them now? :)

I hope not, they should have left it at just one.

There is only the first Matrix. The other ones are from a nightmarish parallel universe.

The Wachowskis were my pick when this whole deal was first announced and everybody was throwing out names of "geek culture" related directors. More than anyone else at the moment I see them as the closest we have to a Lucas heir given the manner they can take a whole bunch of previously used concepts and spin them into in overall package that feels stylishly unique. And come at me 'net land, Revolutions was one of the best spectacle films I've seen in a theater.

Yeah, I like all three Matrices. For the most part, anyway. I also loved "Cloud Atlas." And "Speed Racer" was good fun. The Wachowskis do have a knack for creating really iconic, memorable imagery on screen.

People who like them should give their very first movie "Bound" a watch... it doesn't have any of the big visual spectacle that their other movies have, it's basically a very simple noir crime drama (well, a simple lesbian noir crime drama). But you can really recognize the Ws' distinct visual style.

I'm ok with Alien 3, even though it had no script. :)

I'll get crucified for this, but there's only one Alien movie as far as I'm concerned. I think Aliens is way overrated and pretty cheesy. But if I decide to continue the story I usually go up to 3, preferably the restored workprint version.

The Matrix 3 is quite possibly one of the worst films of all time. It’s just an elongated action sequence. Nothing else. As for Alien 3, I only go by the "workprint" version. Far superior, IMO. Oh, and yes, Aliens is overrated. I still like it, but like all of Cameron's films (apart from the first Terminator) its "greatness" has been highly exaggerated. James Cameron is quite likely the luckiest man living today. Funny thing is he has no idea.
