ST R2-D2 IS IN FOR EPISODE VII!

I imagine R2 is kept in perfect chape by new republic engineers, he's a war hero after all. I imagine him in better condition than ever. Also love that fans are building him.

Agreed. The story was always through the eyes of the droids. It would only make sense to continue the story from this perspective as well. I guess I just assumed they would be in so I'm not overly stoked to see the artoo image. Though it is nice to have the confirmation.

Good question. It would be great if they gave him a new gizmo apart from the other movies.

^ Yeah, this. I'd like to see a new gizmo with every new movie, just like in the existing ones.

 

R2 was done mostly with practical effects in the PT as well.

 

I hope R2 has an attachable bed for me to sleep on.

 

I think it's outstanding that fans are now being brought in for their expertise. These guys build killer robots and badass robots -- how fitting. And one thing that i especially liked reading is that they build DROIDS, not just R2's. So we shall see all kinds of insteresting droids I think.

Also, I concur with those that think we should see some new R2 gizmos. Maybe that could be a whole new thread -- "What gizmo will R2 have ine Episode 7?"

Yeah, they were Luke's property. I think. He inherits them from Uncle Owen, I guess. Dunno if Owen wrote Luke into his will, he's kind of a jerk. But Captain Antilles might still be their owner. Because they were stolen by the Jawas. But he's also dead. Damn. Vader broke his damn fool neck when he tried to sputter out they were on a diplomatic mission. So maybe Bail owns them! Cuz they're Rebel property. But he got blown up. Damn. Who owns the droids?!

I *think* Naboo starfleet could technically still lay claim to Artoo. But I think Threepio is a direct piece of Skywalker property, if you follow the chain of possession....
.....unless everything Annie owned was technically Watto's property. Oh heck.

Not exactly the most surprising piece of news IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's in it, but does this actually surprise anyone at all? It would be good to get some news that's actually the slightest bit of information about what's happening.

talk about product placement! It would make Alpa Cino in Tropic Thunder look like a newbie.

R2 could shoot Lando a smooth, cool, Colt 45 as he maxes and relaxes with all of his honies

 

R2 also works as a jukebox and can play some bumpin' sweet tunes son.

 

But he won't play that song due to copyright infringement.
