Lit Give Me An Interesting EU Point

Hello, folks. I know the SW films very well, but I know very little of the EU. So here's what I would like. Tell me one EU point that you think I would find interesting. Thank you very much.

 

Luke can knock down AT-AT's with The Force.

 

That's pretty impressive. Has anyone in the EU (post-ROTJ) bested Luke in a lightsaber duel? And has anyone in the EU (between ROTS and ROTJ) bested Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel?

 

A resurrected palpatine beat Luke in a lightsaber duel, only to be beaten in kind.

And thanks to Splinter Of The Minds Eye Vader loses a hand and gets beat by Luke and Leia. Um, if you read this one just remember that this was written before Lucas decided Leia was Luke's sister.

 

Thanks. How does Luke survive the first duel with Palpatine, and how does he beat him the second time?

 

I don't wanna spoil too much. Palpatine is trying to use Luke so he does not kill him(Luke joins the Darkside ). Later Luke is clear minded and has Leia to back him up.

All things considered (films and EU), who do you consider the most powerful SW character?

 

Freedom Nadd was pretty badass. But Dark Empire Palpatine could summon Force Storms that coudl swallow starships and transport people across the galaxy.

 

Luke Skywalker has always canonically been the "most powerful" SW character. At some point in his career he was said to be so firmly rooted in one spot that a black hole couldn't shift him if it was right next to him.

 

Depending upon interpretation :Luke Skywalker, Darth Krayt, Cade Skywalker, Darth Nhilius,or the Sith Emperor from SWTOR would be the most powerful (Ignoring the Celestial's)

All derive most of their abilities from the plot and have wins and losses that make very little sense.

Darth Nhilius ate a planet with a large section of the Jedi Council on it but, he lost to the Jedi Exile who was killed by Lord Scourge who was inferior to the Sith Emperor and to the Jedi Knight. But, if he could actually eat world's why didn't Telos go poof immediately?

The Sith Emperor ate a world with thousands of Sith Lord's and dances thru bodies like nobodies business defeated Revan and Malak, as well as Revan and the Exile who were arguably the most potent Jedi of their era's. He also managed to rule the Sith for a thousand years. But, he's beaten by the Jedi Kinght and the Sith Warrior of SWTOR and was trapped by Sel Makor who was killed by a single suicidal voss.

Skywalker's have the highest potential but, that does not mean any of them reach it. Against Abeloth Darth Krayt manages to be roughly as effective as Luke and later in life Krayt becomes even more powerful while Luke dies at some point. Cade Skywalker does kill Krayt and beats Darth Nihl and Darth Talon but, does killing Krayt after he nearly kills you then heals you really count as a win due to ability?

Basically, in Star War's EU extreme power is rarely earned and is instead born or given thru extreme events and it is gradually starting to take away from the story.

 

It sounds like the EU gets a little ridiculous with the force powers.

 

Luke Skywalker has a disturbing obsession with hot chocolate in the EU.

 

The second Death Star was actually the brain of IG-88.

Han's ex-girlfriend was responsible for transmitting the Death Star plans to Leia just prior to ANH.
Rogue Squadron took on a Super Star Destroyer and survived.
Palpatine created a clone of Luke out of the hand he lost at Bespin.
Luke founded a Jedi Academy in the temples on Yavin 4.
An intensely xenophobic race rebelled against their Imperial overlords in the Deep Core, stole a large fleet of ships, then sat on them for a dozen years and waged a sort of cold war against the New Republic.
Peace between the Empire and New Republic was finally achieved 15 years after ROTJ.
Chewie got squished by a moon.

 

A murderer, liar and inhuman monster named Trioculus proved in the end that he did have a heart.

 

Ben, a character from Jedi Prince Series was the grandson of Palpatine, yet a hero like Luke. Triclops was the son and also fighting for the Rebels.

 

Han screws over Lando multiple times prior to TESB. Seriously, it's amazing Lando was willing to help try to get him back from Fett - let alone rescue him in ROTJ.

 

R2-D2 can breakdance.
