While I think Palpatine was holding back in ROTS in order to make Anakin intervene on his behalf, I'm still gonna vote for Windu

My vote goes to Palpatine. I always got the impression he was toying with Windu simply to put on a show for Anakin. Palpatine defeated Yoda with little effort, so I doubt Mace really stood a chance at all.

Seriously, when in old times, I watched their duel, always think that Palpatine lose. Hmm. We have semifinals, there is less room to throw votes based only on liking someone, or hating other one. But still Mace has some rights to be voted as winner. Well - ok vote for Mace Windu. There were some realy hard duels to conclusion outcome. I'm only sure when Luke is competitor.

Sidious

 

Although Sidious was a dark side nexus and the most powerful dark sider of all time, Mace was able to use Vaapad to channel all of Sidious's dark energy and keep himself going. When it comes to Force Powers, Sidious is much more powerful. As we've seen, however, Mace is no slouch himself, and his dueling abilities are unparalleled. Mace defeated Sidious fair and square, although I think the fight could have gone on much longer. I think this battle is one where the outcome can easily go either way. One mistake and it's over. I believe that while the Sith seem to be stronger in the Force, or at least are willing to use more of it, the Jedi have MUCH more patience and focus and are less likely to make mistakes. I think Sidious makes one mistake and Mace decapitates him. End of story. Mace wins.

 

I think Palps chose the time and place of his defeat; but at the same time, I believe that defeat was real. Palps could not overwhelm Mace Windu. Mace takes this one. While not the Force Master that Palpatine or maybe even Yoda is, his focus on Vaapad makes him something of an anti-Dark Side specialist, ideally suited to countering one such as Palpatine, and he proved in the duel that he could match him. Mace Muthafuggin Windu is the victor.

 

I thought this battle would've been much more closer, but Windu is owning Sidious, and I'm glad! Everyone thought the final would be between Luke and Sidious, so it just shows, Sidious isn't the second most powerful Force user. The only bad thing is the final will probably be a rematch if Luke beats Bane again, but remember I've still got a little surprise coming up

Just out of curiosity, who does everyone think could actually beat Sidious? I'd say Father, Son, Daughter, Lord Vitiate, Galen Marek, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Darth Plagueis, Satele Shan, Darth Malgus, Mace Windu and possibly even Mother Talzin, Darth Bane, Darth Nihilus and Revan. It's probably because I don't like Sidious that I think so many characters could beat him, but that's just my opinion.

 

I think that Bane, Plagueis, Luke, Windu, and maybe Revan would defeat Sidious. Malgus? No. He was just a warrior, a killer. I don't take most of The Clone Wars into consideration, because it seems to contradict too much of the novels. I think Revan would do well against Sidious, maybe. But yeah, not many have what it takes to defeat Sidious.

 

Sidious. I genuinely believe that Mace Windu defeated Palpatine in his office in ROTS. However, I also believe that Palpatine's power increased dramatically between ROTS and DE.

If you look at the arguments many are making, it comes down to Mace's Vaapad, which is just a specific ability that makes him highly effective against Darksiders. Doesn't make him more powerful in the Force than said Darksiders, as seen with both Sidious and Vastor.

In terms of who could beat Sidious, Luke's the only person i'm 100% confident in. I'll also add The Ones, but I generally believe there's little they couldn't do. I think Bane, Revan, and Plagueis also stand a chance at various times along with Mace.

 

Its purely my vision about Star Wars - its important, to notice, that what we saw in movies, must be translate with what we know about Force and overall Star Wars universe. Duel was showed in specific approach, which not consider that for example Force-users moves much faster than normal beings (they based on actors and stuntmans skills which are inferior to Force-users). In the same way we shouldn't compare duel scenes from Original Trilogy, later movies, and fan-mades by their sheer appearance. They usually show situations, dialogs, context and outcome, but technical details about how it could looks is not shown - probably ever.

Final will be between Luke and someone, it doesn't matter who. If its not The Force itself, then winner will be Luke, and even then its not clear as Luke is much possibly an embodiment of Force himself I'm curious about this surprise

Loose thoughts:
- Mortis trio - nope they are too much out of how I perceive Star Wars.
- Yoda, Satele Shan, Windu, Bane - most probably - fight wouldn't be easy but yes.
- Nihilus are too indeterminate - but rather no.
- Rest - I don't know enough about them to say.
- Except Mother Talzin - from what I read in this thread before about her - she is in the same box as Mortis trio.

Sidious.

I have always been firmly convinced that he was faking his "defeat." He dispatched the other Jedi (and Yoda) rather quickly, and Windu wouldn't stand a chance in a straight, no manipulation of others duel.

 

The ROTS novel states categorically that Windu and Sidiou were equals until Windu used the environment, smashing the window and forcing Sidious to redirect his force energy into not flying out of the office, then Windu took advantage and disarmed him, Sidious however was getting very tired and very fast, so he relied on Force Lightning, something Windu confirmed in his own mind that even with his lightsaber he could not defend against it, because Sidious' lghtning was bending Windu's blade back at him, then suddenly he relented, this is when the ploy comes in, he tricks both Anakin and Mace into believing he has nothing left in him, the reality is, he was actually regrouping himself for an even more lethal barrage of Lightning.

However, it should be noted that after the battle, Sidious felt like an old man withered and tired, he confirms himself that Windu might have killed him if that duel had lasted any longer, Sidious would not have been able to keep up with him.

 

Straight up "duel" I've gotta go with Mace Windu.

 

The only force users I think could even compete with Palpatine are Luke Skywalker, Darth Bane, Darth Revan, Darth Plagieus, Mace Windu, Darth Sion and Darth Nihlus. I think Darth Vader could probably take down his master too, but it would be a mutual kill in that scenario. I don't think anybody else would even stand a chance, as Palpatine was able to easily defeat Yoda in ROTS and probably would have finished Galen Marek if Marek hadn't killed himself using his force power to save his friends. While I hate acknowledging TCW, Palpatine also showed his prowess as a duelist when he totally destroyed Maul and his brother.

 

Mace Windu is the winner.

 

I always thought Sidious found Yoda to be a big threat, as he tried to run away from him before they started their duel in Revenge of the Sith, and Yoda was doing very well, until the end of the duel, showing that his skills with the Force and a lightsaber were about the same as Sidious.

 

If Revan couldn't defeat the Sith Emperor, how do people expect him to be able to battle Emperor Palpatine? who is in every category his superior.

 

I vote for Sidious. I think Anakin stopping him was all part of the plan...
Windu would win in a fair battle, but Sidious won't play fair...

 

The Ones and Abeloth are the only ones I'd give a definite victory over Sidious. Yoda, Plagueis, and Luke all have excellent shots. As for the rest, Sidious has them all trumped in accolades or feats. He's without question the most powerful Sith.
