JCC Discussion Time: Let's Talk About Drafts - next draft?

Well, I certainly won't be the commish, so I will silently stew instead, or perhaps rant to my roommates who don't care.

 

So I went to Youmacon in Detroit with some friends Saturday. Even tho I'm not up on anime like a lot of people it was a blast. Got some pics, here's one with my BOY Protoman..

I'd be willing to judge this time around if one of the past judges want to GM.

 

I will be MORE than willing to judge this time. These are desperate times.

 

Atrocitus should be in black, heels1785. I know you're mad he beat your love Superman, but you can't retcon it like he wasn't picked.

No, look, Magneto was drafted the last time for a reason. And there's no reason to keep the Juggernaut if he was taken. I mean, that's just being arbitrary. Most of these are being arbitrary, really. I mean, I do need to look at the list we're left with still, but I'm pretty sure Gladiator is still on there. People like that, so adding back both Superman and Supergirl...again, just opinion.

Maybe put Hulk back on there minus the incarnation that was picked, but as of right now, based on memory, all of those guys have the potential to be easily the #1 pick of the leftover draft. And that just seems pointless to me.

 

Be sure to take out Extant.

Yeah, Supergirl and Superman should be in there. Also in regards to Hulk, just limit him to Professor or Savage....besides Green Scar those are the only 2 versions ever to be selected.

 

So I first went ahead and completely removed all of those bolded names, just to get a better look at what we'd actually be dealing with; additionally, I've put some names in purple who could probably go, with a bit of reasoning besides. Now, if we want to go completely hands off, by all means, do so. These are just some names that I've felt didn't really need to be here in the first place. And just one blue name for now. Because.

You know, I thought it would be better to work from the list from two drafts ago. It was vastly different...

 

I agree about removing pretty much all those in purple. But maybe dump Kid Flash in with the titans just to add another choice. And maybe make it clear if it's Bart or Wally.

Also, do we need to start distinguishing between Pre New 52 and the current incarnations like we do with some Silver age characters? Or can we just pretend the new 52 doesn't exist at all?
I guess same goes to Marvel. Magneto in his current incarnation is certainly not as powerful as the Magneto we argue for now. So if there were any issues with keeping him, 'broken' Magneto might be a simple solution there.

 

Dump him in...with those people? You're mad. It's absolutely Bart. That's been made pretty clear by DC forcing Wally down everyone's faces as the Flash.
