The prophecy was made after the OT. The OT had no prophecy spoken of and now we are in a bind to progress the story line without screwing up canon.

 

I apologize I did get carried away. I just get so amped up I can't help it half the time. I'll keep trying harder.

 

The prophecy is resolved. The story can move forward.

 

I can't really see myself caring if anything in the sequel trilogy contradicts something established in the prequels. The less references to the prequels the better I say.

In the original draft of ANH, the prophecy was meant to be mentioned in the scrolling text and Luke was the Chosen One. Lucas scrapped it in the final draft.

I just hope that they don't go the route of Dune with the Kwisatz Haderach. Luke being the true Chosen One is fine but Dune got so carried away its not funny. I don't mind it but that was absurd.

I don't know but I'd guess around a couple thousand years considering the fact the angle has a close resemblance to christ. I'm not hugely involved in the EU but I have dabbled in it. (mainly video games) I can't recall it ever being said. All I can recall is the Sith were around for thousands of years and KOTOR took place 2 thousand years ago I think? Sometime shortly after that I'd say as a guess.

 

Two trilogies dedicated to bringing him down and they bring him back? Not going to happen.
