I think it's seriously overdramatic to say force unleashed (a story about a character mentioned NO WHERE outside force unleashed) is the same as reconning Vader as Luke's father or anything in ESB which affects ALL six films. And I highly doubt that Garm, Mon Mothma and Bail will not be involved as leaders in the Rebellion, their story may not mirror TFU perfectly or have Sith involvement, but that element will be the same. It's rediculous to even think it's a recon free for all with the movies material in danger since they aren't using Force Unleashed.

It might be a nice idea if we had one thread for debates about canon. Right now there are about four or five paralell arguments about canon ongoing in four or five different threads in SWTV.

SCREW DISNEY. And what season 5 Clone Wars stuff? There wasn't anything about the Alliance.

I did. There were some references but it was a blatant origin story. Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, etc were not involved at all.

Disney doesn't have anything to do with that. LFL wasn't owned by Disney when season 5 was penned with direct input by GL (and I'm not a fan of the TFU storyline anyway).

Disney can do whatever they want, because I no longer care about the force unleashed...

its obvious to me that Lucas liked that story about as much as he adores the Holiday Special.

Lucas didn't seem to care about anything that he didn't create. Or maybe he "liked it" but it wasn't "his vision" and so rather than seeing the EU as a resource to fill in blanks, he seemed like he felt the need to do something completely different that represented "his vision."

Lucas wants a Jedi killer named Grievous. The microseries does just that, so instead of being consistent, Lucas has to do something different and so goes the exact opposite route of making a coward.

The EU goes the route of making Mandalorians a warrior culture. Lucas goes the route of making them a bunch of ex-warriors turned pacifists, etc.

There were two choices Lucas had in that case (and I believe you):

--Don't let anyone else create in his universe
--If he's going to let other people do it, make sure that it's consistent with "his vision"

Of course the second option would involve him having a consistent vision.

Well, I'm an EU fan, and what I think is canon is all that matters to me. Of course, I'll have a fit if the ST messes up post RotJ EU.

I didn't mind TFU but that fact that Vader and the Palpatine basically created the Rebels in order for him to kill them all in the same place at once, only for them to turn around and cause his downfall to be a 'slap in the face'

While I do expect to see Vader's apprentice in Rebels... I'm guessing that there are more than a few fans out there who are happier, now that "Rhett didn't start the Rebellion." I'm only bummed that I didn't get to finish the series the same way it started. As Vader.

Does Chewie being alive, Luke having always been single and childless, and Han and Leia having completely different children count as "messing up?"

I'm sure some people would come up with a mass of convoluted retcons to make it all work.

I don't see why people dislike Starkiller starting the Rebellion so much. The pieces were there, he just brought them together. I thought it was a great way of showing that the people Sidious and Vader hurt with their schemes will eventually rise up and cause their destruction.

Should be the common people rising up to overthrow the Empire. I mean I love the Jedi as much as the next person but the common people should be the ones to rise up to overthrow the Emperor and the Empire.
