No, you're not the only one. I know I've spent the last few weeks looking around for something to fill the lack-of-new-Star Wars void; I've been checking out all kinds of Sci-fi anime franchises and live-action Sci-fi franchises, and so far I've been coming up short and have only found temporary placeholders. Of course, we have Rebels coming up, and the last of the Clone Wars, so there's that, but December 18, 2015 can't get here soon enough.

Exactly. Yeah, give me a Star Wars movie every year; it's pretty much the only geek thing that I like so there's very little chance of overexposure on my part. As far as the general public getting burnt-out: I imagine Disney will do this initial batch of movies, then take a 5 to 10 year break, and then do another batch. The beautiful part of all of this though is thanks to Disney I'm going to get Star Wars for the rest of my life.

The general public soaks in two-three Marvel movies a year. I'm sure they won't feel oversaturated by one Star Wars movie a year.

So is anyone still hoping they push this forward to May 2016?

Why? For the sake of having the movie release in May? We are moving on now.

TheBBP Yep. I have always been one for tradition

Odolwa I said 2016, not 2015. An extra 6 months isn't rushing them, in fact it's the total opposite

Seeing how well movies do in the Christmas holiday and the lack of any real competition (except maybe MI5-but that will probably be moved by then anyway), I'd say it can do equally as well in December as it would in May and they can pursue a May release fo Eps 8 and 9.

They've already delayed it. No need to delay it more.

It's been delayed long enough as is.

    No more.

No, not really - unless they have a really good reason for it.

If it's just for the sake of keeping "tradition," then no. Let it alone.

I really wish people would stop prescribing the word "tradition" to such trivial things. It's really melodramatic. The previous films were released in May not because of some tradition set in stone from up on high, but because that was when they were believed to make the biggest impact on the market. Now the goalposts have shifted, thanks to Avatar and the Middle Earth movies, and Disney know that while the movie will be successful no matter where in the calendar they place it, it will make the biggest splash in the December slot.

I agree that people probably need to move on regarding the May "tradition" (which itself started because a December '76 release date for Star Wars got pushed back to May '77). Besides, I'm sure they made sure that December 2015 was very feasible before officially announcing it.

Thank you, but I'm afraid I am very melodramatic :)
Say what you will, but in the end, I shall be as butthurt as anyone sharing my sentiments. I am however, honestly surprised to see no one (at least initially) agree with me here

Seagoat I was somewhat dismayed back when a late 2015 release date was first rumored, but in time I got over it and now I'm quite excited for a holiday release. As a SW fan I've had to learn to roll with changes over the years. In '97 it wasn't so easy, but 16 years later I've become pretty accustomed to it.

If they didn't have Harry Potter movies every year and in November I can accept them not having Star Wars movies in May. Wasn't TCW movie in August?
I love tradition as much as the next person but since we haven't had a Star Wars movie in 9 years I'm cool if it is off. Just keep the ones after that regular.
