ST 2014 "The Year of Star Wars" (Poll-a-licious)

Yep. My thoughts exactly.

 

Anyone else find it funny that the first "news" we get in 2014 is about a rumored/speculated Boba Fett movie?!

As for news (strictly pertaining to E7) I think it will either be production start date or Big 3... though I really would have thought they would say Big 3 by now so I may not be the best judge of how these things work.

I voted for the announcement of the Big 3 but now that I think about it, it will probably be the finished script first, quickly followed by the title (at the moment I really want to know this one more than who's in the cast), then the casting announcements.

 

I'm going for "Thomas" and "Rachel" being announced. I think that announcing them before the Big 3 (or any famous actors who may be joining the cast) will stop them being upstaged. They'll also represent the fresh new face of Star Wars, something I feel Lucasfilm/Disney will be eager to capitalise on.

This may even be why we haven't heard anything about the return of Luke, Han and Leia ...

 

I voted Production Date myself, because I think it's close -- just a couple months -- but casting is what I'm dying for. I just want to ease the shadows of doubt, although I really don't have any serious doubts, the BIG 3 will reprise. I'm also dying to know the knew actors because of the fear of lousy casting, IE Effron or Gossling.

 

I don't think they'll make a big hoopla about the script being finished. I think it'll be either the start of the production or the announcement of the Big 3 (or possibly both in the same announcement). I just hope they'll get around of delivering their promise of 2014 being the Year of Star Wars...

 

It can't be the year of Star Wars, because the year of Luigi was extended. However, i said Script since i think it will be announced first, but now reading through this forum i don't think it'll be a BIG announcement. I really don't know if we'll get any BIG announcements until the second half of this year, and i just want a goddang title.

 

Who the hell are Tom and Rachel?

 

"Thomas" and "Rachel" are the leading roles in a Disney film that auditions are currently being held for. They are widely believed to be codenames for the main protagonists in Episode VII. See here for the casting call.

In absence of any better information, they've become the stand-in names fans are using for the new young characters.

 

We need an option for "The Big Three confirmed not to play a part in Episode 7"

 

The next Disney earnings call is on February 5th. I'm guessing a production start date and and the first casting announcement will possibly come on or before that day. If I remember correctly, this earnings call last year officially announced the spin-offs.

EDIT: Ha, I just looked up the exact date when the spinoffs were officially announced and it happens to be the same exact day.

 

Now its the 7th and I'm asking the same question lol.

I half expected the news to just start flowing as soon as January 1st hit. But I can be patient. I think it's coming soon.

BLAST! I can't believe January is almost over already and NO new Official Announcements?!

 

Don't really see them announcing that the script is done, since scripts are basically never done and can change dramatically during production. My guess is that it will be a Big Three and new main cast reveal, with just a very vague description of what their roles are.

Also, I'm guessing that this will not really come all that soon, either. It may be "The year of Star Wars" but it's a year that's been here barely 10 days, so...

This whole "Year of Star Wars" thing is just a silly attempt to generate interest (and sales) for the brand during an off-year. Fact is, revenue for Star Wars is highest during years where actual movies are released, so they're just pushing 2014 a little bit to try and give sales and ratings a little bump.

AFAIC, 2015 is the Year of Star Wars. All the rest is cute and fun, but just nowhere near as interesting as the upcoming E7.
