That's because its not a part of the official "Marvel Cinematic Universe"

Just as Punisher, Fantastic 4, Daredevil, X-men, and Spiderman are also not part of that series.

I like to think that The Incredible Hulk is an extremely vague sequel to Hulk hence the brief opening montage. Yeah I know it doesn't work. LEAVE ME ALONE DAMMIT

It was set up that way, for people who really wanted to connect the two. That's why TIH doesn't have a 'origin' story.

I came late to the party. I've seen Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2: The Dark World. I loved The Avengers and Thor 2: The Dark World. I enjoyed Iron Man 3 a lot, but had some problems with it. Captain America was a real oddity; the first half was fantastic - I mean good enough to stand up next to The Avengers - but the second half was absolute garbage. I hope Winter Soldier fixes some of this; Captain America had a real shot at being a genuinely brilliant movie and it screwed it up in that last hour. Hopefully Winter Soldier is more consistent. I'd even be okay if it's not as good as the first half of The First Avenger, as long as it's consistent and not as bad as the last half of First Avenger.

    1 - The Avengers
    2 - Iron Man
    3 - The Incredible Hulk
    4 - Thor
    5 - Iron Man 3
    6 - Iron Man 2
7 - Captain America: The First Avenger

*I haven't seen Thor 2 yet, but I imagine it would rank close to the first one.

Also, I really liked Incredible Hulk. I thought Mark Ruffalo was great in Avengers but I still wish it had been Edward Norton.

    1. The Avengers
    2. Iron Man
    3. Iron Man 3
    4. Iron Man 2
    5. Captain America (was quite bored by this, although I agree with Rogue1-and-a-half that its first and second halves are totally mismatched)
    6. Thor (was very bored by this)

I haven't seen The Incredible Hulk or Thor: The Dark World.

    Iron Man
    Iron Man 3
    Thor
    The Incredible Hulk
    Captain America: The First Avenger
    Iron Man 2

didn't see Thor: The Dark World so I can't make an opinion on that

Iron Man 3 is a strange beast because everything up to the revelation with Ben Kingsley makes it the second best Marvel film. Then it becomes incredibly stupid to the point of almost being unwatchable.

Is that up to and including the Ben Kingsley revelation. If so, then I agree with you.

I haven't seen the Ang Lee Hulk, what makes it so good? Seriously curious. I've thought about watching it for a long time but have really had no motivation to.

    1. The Avengers = 236 points
    2. Iron Man = 192 points
    3. Captain America: The First Avenger = 160 points
    4. Thor = 148 points
    5. Thor: The Dark World = 117 points
    6. Iron Man 2 = 100 points
    7. Iron Man 3 = 99 points
    8. The Incredible Hulk = 86 points

And I think instead of everyone constantly updating their rankings I will just make a new thread after Cap 2 and GOTG come out. Not sure on that yet though.

Basically the results I expected. The only thing I wasn't sure about was Iron Man and Captain America; I wasn't sure which of them would take number two and relegate the other to number three. And I'm surprised to see Iron Man 2 beat Iron Man 3. I know a lot of people had problems with Iron Man 3, but the reaction to Iron Man 2 at the time was just overwhelmingly negative, so I would have predicted that one differently. But I see 2 only beat 3 by one point, so that kind of makes things make a bit more sense.

I still can't get over the fact that the government, military, or law enforcement bothered to translate the Ten Rings hostage video.

Once thing I hated about Iron Man 3 was when RDJ gave the enemy his home address, that was sooo stupid.

Out of curiosity- was there a particular moment that represents the divide between halves? The montage, for instance?

I think people's opinion of IM2 improves over time. I went into it in a bit more detail in my post on the previous page, but part of it is the mixed reaction to the choices and shift in tone in IM3, but also the film took a lot of flak under claims that it was mostly just Avengers setup (which has subsequently been shown to not be the case).

As people start to realize IM2 is a much more stand-alone story than it was initially given credit for and start to look back on it as being closer in tone and enjoyment to IM1 than IM3 was, their opinions of the film are revisited. I think that's a trend that will continue.
