I didn't think I would make any exceptions but I just changed my mind.

There was almost nothing I liked about ROTS but if Padme "losing the will to live" ended up as her faking her own death only to make a badass return later to build the New Republic...both her character and that film would be redeemed in my eyes.

Decent at his job until a blind Han Solo tapped him on his jet pack. Greedo at least took a blaster bolt.

Everybody seems to be missing the fact that Attack of the Clones explains why Boba went out the way he did. Obviously he overcompensated when designing his jetpack so that it wouldn't stop working when it took a hit like Jango's. :D

Ah yes RotJ - the beginning of the stupid jokey hijinks. Boba's slapstick demise, the burping frog & the burping sarlacc, all of the Ewok silliness, & making Han spend the whole movie delivering (mostly) bad quips.

Maybe the spin-off movie is about how Boba has to return the Darwin award he was given in 4 ABY

We'll, I'd say that being a mostly silent killer with a cowboy's swagger (there's even the jangle of spurs as he walks in one ESB scene) and the confidence to question Vader is a personality in itself. He evokes so much in the little we see of him and that's why he's lasted. Sure a lot of that is kinda deflated by his unflattering demise but could easily be brought back, OR ditched for something else.

Maul is also a character who had relatively little time to develop, but still evoked character. Unlike Boba's cool, john-Wayne mercenar feel Maul has a quiet rage and a samurai's resolve. I never really saw that myself until I saw him broken. I could compare, and a broken boba could do the same.[/quote]

Just found this new thread ("Boba Fett movie: the litmus test for Disney's adherence to canon") in the Archive (it had been moved there from PT)... I moved it to the active 7SA forum and will now merge with active Boba Fett thread.

"The Most Feared bounty Hunter in the Galaxy" sounds pretty easy to write around to me.

I think the idea that his part was so small in the films, and yet became so popular, is all the more reason to give him the things you mentioned are missing.

Even if you fill in that gap with 2 hours of awesome, we still know that he dies looking like the biggest chump in the galaxy.

Boba Fett was at Jabba's palace for a reason but what we're not told is that it was for Jabba's annual New Year's Eve party and that Boba was simply hungover when they sent the heroes to the Sarlacc. It explains everything perfectly. ;)

My bigger complaint about Boba Fett in ROTJ is his incompetence to warn Jabba about Lando Calrissian. I mean he was on Cloud City almost the whole time the Empire was there so he clearly had enough time to become familiar with Lando and yet he says nothing to Jabba when he suddenly shows up looking to become one of Jabba's guards? That seems odd to me.

I cant really argue that, but I guess that's a reason to start the spin-off with him climbing out of the pit..... We'll see if the powers that be decide that thats a good enough reason......

It would appear, from the film, that Boba was hired to provide muscle in the event that there was a direct-fire threat to Jabba, yes, and Fett may well have recognized Calrissian.

But that said, who says it has to be incompetence? Watching Fett walk around both the grounds of the palace and aboard the Khetanna, I always got the feeling he was on to something. Perhaps he wasn't paid to suss-out Rebel infiltrators, if you take my meaning.

According to Latino Review, it may not even have been "Boba Fett" that fell into the Sarlaac...

I am not sure if I buy that though, however I wouldn't be suprised to see Boba killing and taking an older hunters armor.

I personally think that being a clone makes him even more ”a man without w name"... Faceless, anonymous, without an identity of his own...
