For the record, that usually results in a discharge to a long-term care facility, not pulling the plug.

Is there going to be an announcement somewhere before this happens, or will I one day try to log on to the Senate and it just won't be there?

I think it will be a Rapture-type event where our Senate personas will be cut off in mid sentence...

 

I've been kind of busy with life. My dad finally got a kidney transplant so I've been dealing with that and I admitted to my friend that I love her and I'm trying like hell to fix things (past issues). Soo...things are going okay but kind of not been in the arguing mood lately.

 

I don't see the need to remove Senate. It's a nice break from the chaos of the Community forum, a place where we can be all "srs bznss" and stuff.

 

Well the proposal has been to close the Senate, but re-add a Senate/Serious tag back into Community so everyone can be all 'serious' in there.

Why do I get the feeling you've had a peek at the results and already know the answers?

 

Hmmm ... should I start laying bets on Wocky not being happy?

 

Isn't that of itself a reason not to close the Senate?

 

Merk, to be fair to us weepy doom-and-gloomers I personally only got all weepy and doom-and-gloomy because Watto suggested on the previous page that it was going to be closed that day. So I thought a decision had been reached.

I've been rather sparse around here for the last few months largely because I changed jobs on Sep 30, and my new job's firewall would let me read (sort of) the boards, but wouldn't let me log in. It completely screwed up the page formatting, and so I mostly let it lie for a while. However, our project moved to new offices last week, and the new network doesn't have the same problems.

I probably still won't be as frequent due to life issues (baby due in less than 8 weeks, planning to sell our house and move to a bigger one after that, etc), but I am back for the most part.

 

And there's no reason to be completely "doomy and gloomy," as even without the Senate, there's still the new hypothetical "serious tag," whatever it's going to be called. If the Senate has too much baggage, and the "new tag which exactly duplicates what the Senate already does except in name only," fills that same role, then it doesn't hurt anything just to move on. In fact, it probably takes on a new importance that as many Senate regulars as possible continue to post in the new forum in order to successfully transition. Otherwise, I'd wager that not much changes in relation to the boards here.

 

Sleep? What's that? This is our third kid, after all, and he'll be our second boy. The oldest likes to get up in the morning and wander around asking "Mommy, where are you?" and he won't stop until he gets an answer he likes.

 

Good to know nobody's leaving.

 

Looks like my trip to the Netherlands is finally a go. I found a house for a week outside Utrecht and will try to explore that triangle of stuff between Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam, whatever's there. I assume something's there. Land of Superwatto and Vermeer.

I gotchya beat... My four-year old still climbs into bed in the middle of the night whenever he gets lonely. Even bunking him with his brother hasn't helped.

I'll take morning any day.
