Buff, NY Makers Fair - Museum of Science - March 1 2014

Cool. I just got my syllabus. No class meeting on 3/1! I can do the whole event!!

 

Since I haven't made any props I don't think I would be of much use other than taking up space.

 

The museum imagines this will be as much as a memorabilia / photo op table as it will be a demo of the North Ridge's builders. If you've made anything for your club activity, costumes, props, set pieces, etc., you should come and bring that stuff.

We will have a goodly amount of room to display our *ahem* talents in the main hall. What might work best is to have at least 2-3 table stations set up for us - one smaller table for NR publicity/videos on the computer, one for crafts (see below) and one for droid/lightsaber demos. Plenty of floor space for quick dueling demos also.
In addition to socializing/posing/answering questions about making our stuff, a few crafts seem in order.
We'll do a few sessions of making lightsabers alternating with SW bag puppets.
Because the fair will permeate the entire science center, there are options to spread out our presence a little.
There is a children's library area just behind the shop where we could have a character doing a reading for small kids.

Until they hire someone I am on call forever. Might be able to work the table if I don't get called in.

As Larry will be bringing the robot, "mrs Robinson" will attend to keep him company. Jim will also come to help out at the event.

 

Beckie and I will be there, no costumes yet. Is there anything we can do to help?

 

Absolutely!! Possibilities include: assist helmeted characters/robot, promote the North Ridge at the table, assist with craft activities , etc etc... Thank you for helping!!

 

Absolutely! We plan on having a table and that will need manning. In addition to our <censored> and dueling demo, we also want to provide crafts. Also, costumed characters, particularly those wearing helmets and masks, can use non-costumed attendants to help them navigate safely through crowds and building challenges.

ill be there! I can bring some of my pepakura helmets in various stages of creation. i know its not stuff i made in shop but its still something and neat to see how paper turns into helmets.

 

I received the OFFICIAL Call of acceptance to the Makers' Faire from the Science Museum today!! YAY!!!
