Amph House of Cards (Netflix Original Series)

I'm about three episodes in...I need a breather! The last season had the benefit of Russo's (genuinely heartwarming) story in the middle, this season seems to be making things as grim as possible. Gotta watch it in smaller doses.

 

Holy **** at the ending of episode 11!

That was a totally hot ending. I knew Frank was either gay or bi and I had a slight feeling about Meechum. Stamper is going a little psycho though.

 

Just finished it. An intense two days for sure. I hate politics, but the show is very entertaining.

I think because it's so well done (writing, acting, directing), you can't help but like the show.

 

Just wait till you get to the end of the season.

 

Eight episodes in, and enjoying it rather more than the last season. The increased focus on Underwood has been helping greatly.

 

Once I got past those first two or three episodes, the season lightened up. Still working my way through it, but man, this thing started grim.

 

So I just started on S1E1. When Spacey says that the latina congresswoman he supported is "hard as a $2 stick", does that mean that she is tough, or does it mean that she's NOT tough? I'm not familiar with this expression.

 

I don't know for certain, but I believe it to be the latter. Frank surrounds himself with people he can control and manipulate. He's the Palpatine of the show for sure.

 

The former. Very tough. You must not know much about steaks.

And I love House of Cards.

 

Oh, he said steak. I misheard. Now it makes sense.

I just started watching this series and am currently up to the third episode. I wish I could say I'm excited but the truth is, it's not clicking with me yet. It's like Breaking Bad except without the meth, New Mexico but with lots of BORING 'murican political crap instead. I know Kevin Spacey can play a slimey douche and I've seen it before but...well, I'm wondering if I should keep watching. Will my patience be rewarded?

 

Definitely stay with it. The show plays a long game, but everything Frank does has a purpose.

 

And I guess the purpose is POWAH! ULTIMATE POWAH!?

 

For him it is. He seems to really covet it, and will do whatever is necessary to achieve it.

 

Absolutely. He even gives a speech about money vs. power in one of the first episodes. That speech is pretty much his motto and its very clear by the end of season 2.

 

Yes, I recall his speech on Money vs. Power. And, of course, he's right.
