Well here's the star wars casting rumor rundown. First up: Tom Hiddleston interview

So huzzah

 

He is right though. It would be hard NOT to see Loki with a Lightsaber. Even if he IS the best actor in the entire Marvelverse.

 

I would love to see Tom Hiddleston in Star Wars (to be honest, I'd watch him in pretty much anything), but he does make an excellent point.

 

Sam Jackson, Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, and Alec Guiness disagree with him

 

There is that point. I think that if Hiddleston also played a good guy, it would be easier to get by.

 

Or if he played an alien, heavy make up and or CGI.

 

maybe even a Muun? Hmm? Hmm?

 

I have no problem with famous people being in Star Wars, quite the opposite actually, but when people look at Tom Hiddleston right now, they see Loki because it's happening right now and he made him a very popular character. If he hadn't played Loki so recently to Star Wars coming out, I think it would be totally fine. They are going to make another Thor movie, and most likely he will play a very big roll in it.

That being said, if he were to be cast, I certainly wouldn't turn my back on it... he's a good actor and I do think he could do a good job.

 

I agree. Come to think of it, when I watch the new Sherlock Holmes (films) I don't see Tony Stark and when I watch Sherlock (BBC show) I don't see Khan. A good actor will make his character stand apart from his other roles.

Has Hiddleston been rumoured? I've missed that one if he has. That interviewer was probably just thinking the question is worth asking of any actor of a certain ilk. But if there is anything to take from that, it's that his answer could have been informed by knowledge of BC having been nixed by Star Trek.

 

This Jack Raynor guy is too much of a random and relatively unknown name to just be tossed out there. It's not like Gary Oldman who would be everyone's dream to have in the movie. There's got to be something to the Jack Raynor rumor despite his agent saying there hasn't been any talk regarding SW.

 

This thread has taken a turn for the hilarious.

 

I think it is absolutely possible Hiddleston was cast. His vague "denial" means nothing and his claim that he is too popular for SW is almost hilarious. Disney will be happy to cast any actor that is as popular as Hiddleston, in fact his popularity is a great bonus, and they can easily give him a role that is different from Loki.

 

Seems like those with vague denials or responses seem to be less likely to be cast than those with flat out denials (except for Harrison Ford that is). It's as if some are wishing it would happen while others are being defensive about rumors.

 

We should have some sort of Vagueness of Denial meter built. Then, we compare it to the Arbitrary Measure of Likelihood of Something or Other Happening machine's findings and then...

...well, then I guess we'd be right back where we started.

Unless, of course, we decide to invest in the Machine That Goes Bing. Then we're all set.
