I don't think that is a particularly controversial opinion, given it is about Vader rather than Maul. I think TCW handles Maul better than any of those stories do, as Maul's characterization prior to Witwer and TCW has been "the Terminator except really prideful and not a cyborg." Except in Old Wounds, where he is a cyborg.

This is a very good point. I'm a POSITIVE verb! Hooray!

People, the guy's last name is already a verb. Wouldn't it be simpler to just say "they Fried that"?

Speaking personally, I liked it because Uncle Owen got to kill a Sith Lord.

I kind of liked how the epic showdown of revenge was set up but didn't play out, because it was interrupted by something more important a parent protecting a child. Or uncle as the case may be.

Though admitadly my attitude was more "as long as they are doing this dumb thing, they might as well canonize this so-dumb-its-cool story while they are at it." And while I disliked the idea of bringing back Maul, I have to admit that TCW used him well and his episodes were generally enjoyable.

"Dumb" is an understatement. If Maul survived, he would do what he did in TCW, not gone through an unfathomably silly tour of prequel landmarks while unsuccessfully chasing after Obi-Wan for 15 years. That story existed just for the visuals and the cool factor of Alec Guinness-ed Kenobi vs Robo-Maul -- the actual story itself is so silly it defies belief that it was written by an anatomically modern Homo sapiens with a fully functioning brain.

What the heck does Lucas's opinion (who doesn't even own the franchise anymore) have to do with canon? But forget it anyway, because I'm sure I'm going to be insulted one way or another.

    Huh.

If you consider continuity errors to be insults, I'm not sure what to say. If you are accusing me of insulting you, well... huh.

No, not you, but the minute Lucas gets brought up in canon topics, it always (or almost always) turns into a flame war.

In my observation, it (almost) always turns into a flame war the minute Lucas gets brought up in any topic.

If you aren't really concerned about Lucas' opinion, then I'm not sure why canon is even important. As to the new system, we don't know what that is yet, so Lucas' important may remain relevant and it may not.

I'm just not sure why people that don't care for Lucas' opinion at the same time care about canon. Who do you think has had final say over canon for the past thirty years?

Who is Justin LaSalata, what is he telling us that we don't already know, and why should we trust him in any case given that he can't even spell "Moriband" correctly?

TBH I just have a personal canon anyway. I shouldn't have brought it up. At the same time, who has had the final say in canon over the last 30 years? Wookieepedia, it seems.

    Wookieepedia? Huh.

I dunno, canon is an intangible thing, like the value behind a fiat currency, so I've always seen it as being as valuable as the authority backing it. And canon has always been proclaimed by Lucasfilm.

I love how seasoned Star Wars fans just look at the new Sith homeworld and go 'Been here, done that, we got over it last time and we will this time'. Humorous.

TCW was done more competently than Old Wounds.

I tend to think if the Moraband or however you spell it thing was done by DOTJ and revealed the purebloods didn't originate from Korriban then no one would care.
