Amph "There's More Than One King" - The MonsterVerse [Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire]

I love everything about that trailer. Completely erases how bad that first trailer was compared to the Comic-Con teaser.

Love the vibe, love we don't get much of the plot, love the 1954 references, love hints at multiple creatures...

 

I love how Bryan Cranston is is all "OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" in the trailer.

I think this one is going to wash the bad taste of the '98 version away, maybe perhaps.

 

Looks really good actually...wasn't interested in Godzilla ever but this looks like I'll see it.

I am old. I have seen many Godzilla movies. This feels like "the one I always wanted to see".

 

Yes. And, again, what is the problem? You can't get more ominous music than that. At least it's not Zimmer BWAAAAAAHMMs.

Yeah honestly the 2001 music really brings out the terror of it all. Nothing quite so unnerving as it playing in the first trailer while the Seals we're halo jumping as you were going 'what the heck is this? what's going on?'

 

Don't get all defensive, Godzilla fanboys. Just saying it's weird.

 

I like this trailer more than the first one, mostly due to Cranston. But one line of backstory was mind-numbingly stupid. I get the whole nuclear weapon allegory and that the monster is "awakened" by nuclear tests. But if the "tests" were "trying to kill it," they sure didn't try very hard.

 

The Cold War was all just a cover while the US and USSR went on a Kaiju Safari hunt.

 

What it means is that if nuikes can't kill godzilla we're all screwed.

 

I get the impression a team of people worked on foley for the roar.

 

Am I the only lone hesitant over the prospect of other and/or multiple creatures not named Godzilla appearing in this film?

I'm going into this movie with a lot of positive thinking (some based on general principle- it's a Godzilla film!-, most based off the trailers I've seen). I'm sure I'll enjoy this film, even with multiple monsters. I'd just prefer it to be/have been a solo look at Godzilla, which is a lot of the reason why I adore the '54 film.

I don't mind having multiple non-Godzilla monsters running around. We've had Godzilla as the solo antagonist plenty of times before, so having a reboot with another creature, especially if it's a reimagined familiar one, might be welcome.

 

I think so, They've already confirmed Godzilla isn't the only monster/thing. Really looking forward to it.

Never been a massive fan of the original Godzilla, looks a bit dated now. The 1998 was crap but as a kid I still liked it, not so much now.

 

I hear you and I agree. This Godzilla is a titanic threat alone as it is. Tossing other monsters in the mix will seem like a bit of overkill thrown in just for this one movie.

 

Surprised some have an issue here. More monsters gives Godzilla someone to beat the @#$^ out of. Obviously Zilla is the main attraction, and I'm sure the idea is to play him as an anti-hero.

 

I just hope to Zeus that none of the monsters can talk.

 

I need to see some of the original movies again. So much fun. I like the 1998 version.
