I hoping Moriband is the true and lost name of Korriban; the whole Sith path on SWTOR is built around Korriban and it's history. Clearly, from the trailer, Moriband is being portrayed as Korriban

Maybe George wanted that Sith World's name starts "Mor-" like Mortis

There are thousands and thousands of years of untold history and the actual story of the original Jedi/Sith split has never been told, so it is entirely possible that Korriban is the "homeworld of the Sith" from a "certain point of view" -- pending further information, which we are about to receive; would you rather have Korriban retconned in some way to fit a CW story? Nope. This is actually much better. Also, didn't Korriban replace Ziost as "Sith Homeworld"?? Always in motion the future is . . . and the past too, apparently!

It's really the easily avoidable retcons that are the most frustrating. If Moriband is a different planet that has something to do with the birth of the Sith, then great, that's up to Lucas to expand on his own creation. But if they are specifically changing Korriban to Moriband, that's the type of change that really seems petty and seems like Lucas exerting control over his creation because he can, suckahs. If the change doesn't help or affect the story, why make the change at all?

Moraband was a long time coming. I referenced it http://www.eucantina.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=64078#64078 when it was coming sooner rather than later.

This is part one of a two-pronged development designed specifically to throw the established EU "ancient history" out of sync with the canon and continuity going forward. It's not an alternate name, and Korriban isn't coming back. Moraband is the only Sith homeworld in the Star Wars universe.

You'll see the other prong in the same episode. That one's even more significant.

Ah, shows up out of nowhere claiming inside knowledge and foretelling doom, so classic, never gets old.

Okay, here's his post at EUC:

    I just know.

    Well that's reassuring! (Not)

The divergences between CU and EU are going to become more pronounced in the months to come, thanks to the Clone Wars. Some things happen that make the two universes irreconcilable, and that was a deliberate choice.

Then why did they bother to align Onderon so closely with the DH comics in the "Rebellion" arc in S5? Why even use Onderon?

The new order of things is to split the films and the Clone Wars series into their own universe, and allow the EU to continue as it has without interruption. This should make anyone upset about the Clone Wars' discontinuity with established EU material happy.

So GL was taking notes from Disney before he even closed the deal? Not likely. More likely he simply has his own version of events and was going to let his employees, like Leland Chee, sort it out, as always.

The whole Korriban / Moriband thing is no biggie.

Korriban is the name given for the Sith homeworld like 5,000 years before the modern SW era.

Names change over the centuries and Millenia.

The Romans founded a fort city in northeast England named Eboracum, taking its name from the Celtic lord Eburos who owned the land on which the city was founded. Or at least he did before the Romans took it. After the decline of Roman power, and the takeover and domination of England by the Anglo-Saxons, the name was garbled as it made the transition from Latin to the Germanic language of the Anglo-Saxons, and Eboracum became Eoforwic. Some centuries later, in 866 AD, England was invaded again, by Vikings from Scandinavia under Ivar the Boneless. The name of the city changed again as it was imported into the language of the new masters, and Eoforwic became Jórvík (pronounced Yorvik). Eventually after several centuries Viking power waned, and the Viking kingdom of Jórvík was absorbed into the Kingdom of England, and its name evolved into York. That remains its name to this day.

Eboracum doesn't sound remotely like York. But it's the same place and the name evolved through several steps over the course of about 1,000 years. It's certainly a bigger separation than Korriban and Moriband, which still share the same phonetic core (oriban). Yet Korriban had like five millenia to turn into Moriband instead of one. It's surprisingly good name preservation over such a long period.

Do I have to do it here? Yeah, I have to do it here.

This thread is for general discussion of the series TCW. Discuss the specific topic of Canon here:
    http://boards.theforce.net/threads/official-clone-wars-continuity-canon-thread.28016188/
    OR
    http://boards.theforce.net/threads/...r-canon-and-continuity-catastrophes.50003925/

Also, taking a page from the Episode 7 forum- unless you can prove it, don't post it.

Talking about Korriban/Moraband is absolutely acceptable. Talking about how TPTB are going to change this and that, as well as other LucasFilm policies regarding canon is not on topic for this thread. We have two very good threads for canon discussions. Use them! :)

Why did Disney have to cancel this show anyway? Did they say "We're in charge now so you will make what we tell you to make?"

This is what I could get from it:

Jedi Master Sifo Dias died while trying to negotiate a peace between tribes on (Feluica?). He was aboard Jedi T6 Shuttle 77519 when it crashed. Much of the information surrounding his death remains confidential under the office of the chancellor.
It is believed that his body was eventually recovered and (_) by the (Feluican?) tribes in (accordance?) with (_). For this reason these (have?) been...
