ST What do you want New Alien Species to look like?

I'm hoping we'll get at least some New Alien Species in the ST, and I would personally love it if at least one of them was based off the characters in another Disney-owned franchise...



How awesome would it be to see a Jedi like this?

I want more giant aliens that aren't cgi. Like creatures from Jim Henson's workshop. Creatures that look like they'd have trouble getting through a doorway.

Like an arachnid or a cephalopod. But maybe dressed a little cooler than this guy.

We already got a couple of races that looked much like this (except for the tail) in Marvel Star Wars:

Though another one might be good, or simply those ones, appearing onscreen for the first time.

It would be really cool to see some Jim Henson-style creatures in there. Perhaps something that combines modern animatronics with CGI. All of the Henson studio stuff from the 80's (which was really their peak of prominence) was really fantastic. Their designs had a lot of soul.

 

A three-armed, three-legged alien like Lt. Arex from the Star Trek 1970s animated series, or Species 8472, to use another Trek example.

 

I don't care, as long they don't have headtails. Sick of headtails.

 

Species that can survive without protection in space would be cool.

 

No spacesuits.

 

I'd like to see less humanoids. It's such a narrow design, and in a diverse galaxy, there should be more unique ones.

 

Something exotic and unexpected, but I would like this type of creature to play at least a bit part in the story, not just be a background alien. A gaseous creature or something made of light. Something not exactly humanoid.

 

I'd like a combination of CGI, makeup and puppets to realise new aliens. I suppose most fans of the OT would hanker after more humanoid aliens... but I'd like to see some really unusual aliens too.

 

I remember after TPM there was a poll on starwars.com about whether we preferred puppet, animatronic, or CG aliens. At the time I think I said animatronic but throughout the PT I really came around on CG. Ultimately I really like a mix of every technique in these movies. The more diversity the better I say. It all feels like Star Wars to me in different ways now.
