So I decided to revive this now that we have what's pretty much the final word on what content we'll be getting for the Clone wars era, possibly the last we may even see of the PT era for quite some time. Disney's just made a mess of things, and this could all be moot in the end, but let's make a last attempt to get something workable for these 36 months. I've fixed some of the previously mentioned errors, added a few new entries. For now, I'm going to leave the bonus content and the final maul comics at the end of the TCW part of the timeline at approximately 30ABG, but I may move them further up if they just seem to fit better in the war's final 6 months. It depends on how the content plays out when we actually get it. Still, for now, let's just assume Trackdown begins approximately the same time as when the Yoda/Maul arcs end. Have fun.

*Obsession is perhaps the single toughest issue to tackle in the entire new timeline, due to it being the original ending story for both Ventress and Adi Gallia, both of whom have seemingly had their fates changed by TCW. Officially, Chee said that it is not Adi's final canon death nor the canon end of Ventress' story. After debating what to do about this story for 3 years, I have stumbled upon what I believe to be the best possible solution. Obsession occurs between seasons 3 and 4, after Ventress leaves Dooku, but before she begins bounty hunting. Dooku secretly recaptures her and brainwashes her. Anakin assumed her dead because of the chaos in their last fight in Witches of the Mist. Adi is wounded by Grievous, but survives this fight. After faking her death, Ventress escapes and eventually returns to the Nightsisters. Because she never works with Dooku again after Obsession, the original intent of the story (her escape from the war, and from Dooku) is preserved, while the story can still happen before Adi dies. This also leaves open the possibility that she may yet die in either the bonus content, Rebels, or some other unspecified future story.

**Originally, I was going to have Boba Fett books 2-3 occur before TCW, but it turns out there is a source which claims Boba's escape from Bespin is roughly the same time as the TCW film. As a result, I am moving his escape ahead while keeping the rest of the book 2's events earlier. Books 3 and 4 now occur shortly before the events of the first Boba arc. Putting aside their differences, and having now gained Jabba's respect, Boba Fett decided to work together with Aura Sing after book #3 and 4, sometime after recovering Slave I from her, leading to the first Boba Fett s2 arc. Boba later loses it again in TCW to Hondo, but recovers it in an unknown story after s5, but before Book #5. The helmet that was destroyed in his first arc was one of many. He remains in prison for quite some until the Rako Hardeen Arc. Shortly after escaping, he returns to working for Jabba the Hutt. He becomes a full time bounty hunter by the time we get to the s4 finale arc. Books 5-6 can occur in 19BBY as they were originally intended, sometime after the events of Season 5. Since the show will likely never show Fett getting his green armor, the last 2 books can remain intact.

Fixed a few small formatting issues/cleaned it a bit. No real changes in content or order yet, again, the bonus content may change this, but only if it makes explcit references that warrants such (like the droid arc referencing Routine Valor.

So with the show finally ending, I decided to revise this to fit what was seen in the final episode and take a few final necessary retcons into account. Most notably, the months in which TCW have changed have been moved, allowing for the old CW material to occupy between the first 9-12 months of the war, while the final few arcs of TCW also take place a few months later, closer to the end of the war. Most notably, LoE and the Yoda arc now occur simultaneously to account for what is discovered about the Sith, clones, Dooku, Sifo-Dyas and the war as a whole in these episodes, placing the last animated arc less than 3 months before the war's end, IMHO. This still allows some space for the last few EU stories to occur, but stretches the events of LoE over a slightly longer time table, something which the novel ultimately has little problem doing, as it does not explicitly mention dates, or it would be the last story in which they were ignored if it did. Trackdown, however, still immediately follows the Yoda arc. The Maul comics 'may' change their placement when they debut, but it is likely they were intended to be after the Yoda arc... so I will only change their placement if there is major reason to do so, or it seems the most tasteful decision.

Without further ado, here's what I'm hoping is the final order of the era's stories. It is unlikely we will get much new material in this era for quite some time.

***The Lost One presented us with some rather unique problems that needed to be resolved after certain conversations in the EU. In LoE Chapter 11, Yoda and Obiwan had not yet learned that Tyranus was Dooku, yet it is discovered in this episode. In that chapter, they have an extensive conversation about Sifo-Dyas, the mysterious nature of the clones, and the mystery of a man named Tyranus being behind it. In The Lost One, the Jedi learn that Dooku was in fact Tyranus, so events have been moved shortly after this conversation to ensure that LoE still makes sense. Furthermore, Finis Valorum is still alive in the episode. His death by an Anzat assassin was 'not' confirmed until Republic: Trackdown, so that story must still occur after the Yoda arc. It has been decided that while Valorum evaded his assassination in the exploding transport (original canon suggested he was never on that transport to begin with), his would be assassin did not in fact find Valorum immediately like she claimed. He succeeded in going underground for a time, until he later resurfaced back in Galactic City, where he was 'finally' taken out after Sidious decided he got a bit 'too' close to revealing bits about Sifo-Dyas which could compromise the grand Sith plan, thereby telling Sora Bulq's assassin to resume her hunt. These retcons account for both his survival, and the Jedi learning about Tyranus in this episode, and also push the Yoda arc closer to EP III as a way to account for the significant revelations the Jedi order have about the war as a whole. Events of LoE as a whole now occur more gradually spread out over an extra 2 months. Finally, one must take some things into consideration when addressing the Sifo-Dyas timeline. The timeline of his death is implied to be before Palpatine became Chancellor, but since Valorum does not remember the exact timeline of events, it is reasonable to assume that the mission with the Pykes began under Valorum and ended shortly after episode I once Dooku fell and left the order, backstabbing and ordering his friends death. Furthermore, Sifo-Dyas probably confided in Dooku, ordered the clones BEFORE his death (since the Kaminoans know Tyranus is not Sifo-Dyas), and Dooku THEN took over the operation and chose Jango Fett as the template AFTER killing Sifo-Dyas, leaving the events seen in Bounty Hunter intact. Dialogue within the episode allows for this to be possible, especially if you assume Palpatine merely denied having 'any' involvement with Sifo-Dyas (which was definitely a lie).

****Leland Chee pretty much confirmed in a Q&A after a screening for the arc that Moraband is just another name for Korriban. Lucas is a silly man. We know. The world, however, is explicitly the same. Darth Bane appears to Yoda in an ashy unknown Sith armor, said to be just an illisuion, which could explain him wearing never before seen armor. However, given that Bane died by being turned to ashes, it is always possible he 'does' still haunt the planet in some ways just as so many Sith have before him. Who knows what Yoda saw?

Good thing for fanfic, always available, in any era ...
But yeah, I'll miss this timeline, if it's to be relegated to the back burner.

I should also mention that I changed my mind and decided "screw it, none of TCW will take place in 22BBY". Official sources have been all over the map on that issue, but Leland ultimate says we'll never get an official new timeline like this, so why not give it some flexibility to make everything work as well as possible?

Thanks for the support, guys. While I know this was all a nightmare for many of you, this has been a lot of fun for me to figure out. I encourage you to check out the other L-Canon thread to see what other solutions we devised for the show's earlier inconsistencies. Some solutions are silly, but a lot actually work very well for one's headcanon. That's what makes this the best (and by far the most knowledgeable, which I appreciate) board on this place.

I'm doing that exact thing right now, and aside from a few visual inconsistencies (anakin's hair length mostly, which hey, he could've cut it before TCW), it's all working out really nicely. Heck, even the early appearance of Phase II armor isn't entirely unaccounted for as Phase "1.5" armor appears in one of the show's earliest episodes (Clone Cadets).

Overall, I just love 'all' the material from this era. I'm glad I don't have to decanonize any of it entirely.

I was seriously considering just saying "screw it" to TCW entirely, since the continuity issues rising from Day One made me very leery of the show. However, after looking at your timeline I'm seriously considering taking all of the material, old and new, in the order you presented it.

I'm not yet in the new material portion of the war, but there's one thing I noticed while reading Boba Fett #2. Having chapters 9-18 together doesn't work since the events on Bespin happen so quickly. The escape is only a day or so after Boba's arrival. But if the escape has to happen during the TCW movie I would lengthen the time Boba spends in the Acclamator Candaserri, not his time on Bespin (which can't take any embellishment). So I would put the cut in the ending of Chapter 12, and move the chapters 13-18 nearer book #3.

    They were off again.
The troopship cruised slowly (under light speed) through normal space, on the lookout for Separatist forces. There were no more battles, though they heard rumors of other battles taking place throughout the Republic.
    CUT!
"The ship will be warping into hyperspace soon," said Garr one day. "It will take us to one of the central worlds, probably Bespin, where we will be offloaded at some orphanage. I hope we will still be together."

So my retcon is that Candaserri spent months searching for separatist forces near Raxus Prime. Possibly it had to hide from reinforcements from Raxus. Boba had a long holiday.

Good work! I love that timeline. It might as well be canon. Thanks for all of your hard work. I appreciate the development of a cohesive timeline.

So how many of the DVD collections have been released? Can I expect to see the lost episodes ever released for purchase? I kind of want to include them in a read/view/play through of the era. I can get a free Netflix trial, but that won't last long term.

Thanks for the updates. Some of those I can add in at a later date. LoS and TPT can go right before Hard Contact, I believe.

I don't have access to the last 3 at this time. Did the 3-D book feature a new c-canon story? It seems to be just a retread of show content...

Fry's story was produced after this thread started, so it was an easy one to miss.

And finding info on the UK comics is quite tough it seems. Until I can get a complete listing/omnibus/scan of them, I don't want to add them in yet. Hence why this is the (Mostly) comprehensive timeline.

I haven't actually read any of these, but don't a number of them combine (or at least use) earlier Clone Wars EU stuff with the TCW setting? That's at least the impression I got from browsing them on Wookieepedia. I thought that was interesting, since the rest of the TCW spinoff material generally seems to exist in its own bubble (the TCW digest comic that built off of the stuff from KOTOR is the only other one that really comes to mind).

OK, so where, in-universe, other than in that HoloNet article with the memorial, was it stated that Valorum died in the Star of Iskin explosion?

Not in Republic #61, and not in Republic #73. I didn't find any mention of Valorum's death in Labyrinth of Evil either (apart from "the suspicious explosion of a star freighter aboard which Finis Valorum was a passenger", which is not the same as saying, "the suspicious death of Finis Valorum aboard a star freighter").

All we seem to have is Valorum walking towards the ship, and it taking off in the next frame. And then we find out that Vos learned of Viento ordering Valorum's death, and we see in his vision that Tasha planted the bomb and also killed Valorum (that she blew up the freighter to destroy evidence is a connection Vos makes, not one that is necessarily true).

PS: There is a mention in chapter 10 of Labyrinth of Evil which seems to place it in month 35 ABG. Nothing to tie it there, obviously, and it's based on those HoloNet Republic articles that seem to have taken the worst hits of all sources by the new continuity. It's impressive how well James Luceno researched the EU, and sad to see what has happened to the "down-to-the day" pre-TCW Clone Wars continuity.

Not every single line of dialogue is going to work at face value, that's the simple reality we have to face here... but it is 'always' that way with the EU and prequels. The totally loss of what was once an extremely coherrent chronology is frustrating, but it was inevitable when the show was put into production, even if the writers kept everything else consistent. The goal of this is to make the stories fit closely enough so that no one story must be completely decanonized, and amazingly I think we've succeeded at that. If we're lucky, this era may be untouched for quite some time. The old dates aren't canon for sure. No way I can save those. But the events in the stories work in 99% of cases still, with slight changes to context at worst.

Though I still personally prefer Trackdown in its original spot right before Obsession as well, visions of Valorum be damned.

After going through Labyrinth of Evil, I can say where episodes 10-13 of TCW Season 6 would logically have to be placed: following the end of chapter 14 (Anakin, Obi-Wan and Yoda still on Cato Neimoidia) but preceding the beginning of chapter 16 (Anakin and Obi-Wan on Charros IV). Why would Anakin and Obi-Wan not immediately go talk to that chair guy? Don't know, but I don't see another way to make it work. After they visit the Xi Char artisan Belderone happens, and that is placed about a week before RotS by other sources, so no space there. Once we get past Charros IV things start rolling straight into Ep. III.

Since we are dealing with L-Canon, allow me to speculate wildly: I would imagine one reason Anakin and Obi-Wan didn't go to Charros immediately (as originally presented in LoE, and as would make sense) could possibly be a battle. Do we have a placement for the Republic invasion that kicked Haor Chal out of Charros? If it were to be placed between the LoE chapters in question, and concurrently with the TCW episodes, it would be a very good excuse for the Jedi not following the mechno-chair trail (as in, the Separatists blockading the planet or something, is what I'm thinking).

Sounds fair. I'd originally considered chapter 14 as the breaking point, but held back simply because I wanted as many events as possible after the episodes. Still, that makes a better breaking off point, and the rest of LoE can at least occur in the final week as suggested from (roughly) 15 onward. I'll make the adjustment in my next update.

And there's little that's said for the invasion's placement, so it could simply be assumed to occur sometime in the gap between chapters. Plenty of things can break up an investigation in war time, even if it does deal with the Sith. Heck, I like the idea that Yoda learns a bit more about Sidious (but still not his appearance) during the Yoda arc inbetween events of LoE. It sort of ties the entire subplot for searching for the Sith Lord's true identity together.

The TCW episodes can't fit in between LoE 11 and 12, because Anakin and Obi-Wan don't even leave Gunray's palace until after chapter 14. As long as we accept that for some reason the Charros mission was put off, things work out very nicely, and, yes, the TCW Sidious revelations actually work very well as a LoE companion piece.

So I'd really like to watch the whole series in order now that it's all up on Netflix, but I understand there's some inconsistencies between the order suggested by the original webcomics and novel tie-ins and the official list posted on the starwars.com blogs. Which order is this timeline based on?

I know this is an old question, but what causes you to place it there? The opening scroll seems to indicate a placement between TPM and AOTC.

Because of how nearly it ties into RotS with the battles of Kashyyyk and Coruscant, adding a Subjugator-class to the battle at the latter, ditto the presence of Trade Federation battleships with Confederate markings.

The opening scroll sets it after the death of Maul - a date which is going to take place towards the wars end, now.
