Alacrity is an anathema to socialists, Ender Sai. They need time for a full health & safety risk assessment to be conducted, as well as several tea breaks. Plus there needs to be enough of them to achieve a quorum in the committee vote on what to post and that's not easy when most are off claiming welfare benefits for disability. S'more than their jobsworth.

Ok, so Tony Benn died yesterday and that's genuinely sad. Didn't agree with him on anything ever (except about the Poll Tax... Thatcher really did go too far there) but he was a stand up guy with genuine conviction.

Stop. Just stop. You're trying too hard.

Yes but I'm sure Jabbering Wocky or Darth Guy have heartfelt tributes to a man so wealthy he could afford a lovely home in Marylebone but chose to sponge off taxpayers til his death.

Dude, leave Internets alone. He's a dork, but he's harmless and likable.

I don't know if I should be flattered or terrified or even depressed that I'm getting free Ender advice?

As a graduate of his personal communication seminar, I can say it was a complete failure. I felt I had much more success expressing my appreciation for sleeping on the floor when I was doing it my own way instead of using all his crazy, stilted rules.

Ender. You asked about the quality of his advice, so I shared the primary experience that I've had with it.

Ender Sai... you mentioned Bob Crow and I get this in my inbox:

    Dear Mr _unhinged,

In response to plans to modernise and improve your Tube service, and despite us offering significant changes, the RMT union has called a further five days of strike action.

    Travel advice

If the strikes go ahead, Tube services will be affected from:
Around 21:00 on Monday 28 April until the morning of Thursday 1 May
Around 21:00 on Monday 5 May until the morning of Friday 9 May

We will do everything we can to run as many trains as possible, but there will be significant disruption. Our Travel Ambassadors will be on hand to offer help. The DLR, London Overground, and other rail services will operate normally and we will enhance bus services on key routes. Please also consider cycling or walking if possible.

For the latest updates, please visit tfl.gov.uk

    Future of the Tube

The improvements we are proposing will mean more staff than ever visible and available in all areas of stations to help customers buy tickets and plan journeys, just like during the London 2012 Games.

For details, including your questions answered about ticket offices and how we’re supporting our staff through change, please visit tfl.gov.uk/futuretube

We will work hard to minimise the disruption this action by the RMT will cause you.

    Yours sincerely,

Oh goody. I assume they want a pay rise to £90,000; six days off a week; job security guaranteed for 500 years and someone else to drive their train for them?

Or maybe they want to replace all ticket machine with surly, semi-literate primates under strict mandate to help precisely nobody in any given day as they attempt to purchase tickets or find the quickest way from Leicester Square to Charing Cross. Even though "it's only one station, you git" is a completely inappropriate response to poor Torben from Norway, it's also helpful so they're not allowed to say it.

Gosh the RMT looks out for workers, I tell you.

How long til our American friends weigh in in support of the trades union movement and the poor, over underpaid rail workers?

The Yanks? Oh, the RMT. Right. Yes. No agreed, 100%. I'm halfway around the world and it affects me by making me furious. Gits.

What do you suppose Gordon Brown is doing these days? Terry Jones impressions? Wanderine around Yorkshire telling people he's looking for the hound of the baskervilles? Faffing about in Fife and not spending anything like a good Scot?

You know how, after being defeated by Bolingbroke, Richard II was imprisoned and - according to Shakespeare - peopled his prison cell with thoughts over which he ruled as King?

I imagine him doing something like that. Although the oaf has no imagination, so I imagine him needing to use dolls or something. Telling them what to do, instructing them how to eat breakfast (a frugal offering of porridge - made with water, not milk) and passing half a million pages of secondary legislation controlling every last tiny aspect of their lives.

He really was the worst of the ******s from the last government. Not a dreadful chancellor, in fact passing control of interest rates to the Bank of England was a great idea that I still support, but a hideous control freak. When I was 13 years old, I knew what was best for everyone and if I got into power I’d tell everyone what to do and enforce my dumb, adolescent moral absolutism on the world. Brown never grew out of this, and he made it into power. Through his decade as chancellor, he also demanded control over social policy and passed so much law and changed the culture of all our state institutions so much it makes me want to vomit in his face.

Not that I'm bitter about the horrible, irreversible social damage done to this country that I love.

Wow... that was a badly-written and emotional little outburst. I'll put it down to stress.

I do think he's likely to be playing Prime Minister to a collection of dolls, though.
