ST Casting Rumors 2.0 - Nothing but casting rumors... or else.

Since the Casting Rumors thread only manages to stay on topic for a short time and then veers off into all sorts of things that have nothing to do with casting rumors, we are starting a new thread where ONLY casting rumors will be discussed.

This will be strictly enforced.
Those not adhering to this rule will find themselves taking a little vacation.

If there are no casting rumors to discuss, there are plenty of other threads to discuss all manor of things related to Episode 7 and there is also a social thread to discuss random randomness. Use those threads instead of this one as it is only for casting rumors.

Like previously mentioned in v1 of the Casting Rumors thread, once casting announcements start, this thread will be locked and cast announcements/rumors will have their own thread.

Dayo Okeniyi was also up for a role...

 

I guess we can say that Boyelo has decided to continue playing the "Game of Star Wars." When you play the Game of Star Wars you win or you die.....or you get bored and take another movie role

 

This proves nothing toward his Star Wars involvement I am afraid. Any actor could be up for two different movies and lose out to other actors on both. Yes it is possible that he might have won the role for Terminator, but won the Star Wars role too and decided to take that one and then the Terminator people had to go with their 2nd choice. But there is currently no evidence at all to prove that. All we know is he wont be in Terminator and last we heard he was still in the running for Star Wars.

Just wondering do we have a thread here that has like a list of all the current casting rumors? If not then I reccomend this:

IDK...could help us keep better track of the rumors if we have like a sticky thread that only gets updated when we get new rumors

 

Evidences are for Sherlock Holmes...but this Variety article is the closest to a sure thing.

I think that he is more a shoo-in...than say...Matt Damon or Ben Affleck...still...this is a casting rumours thread....so who knows.

 

I guess we will just have to wait and see if he got the part. I hope he did,but who knows. Also interesting that Okeniyi was in the runing. It the first we have heard about him for VII.

 

Kel Chavez and Jeff Sneider are hinting that Boyega isn't going to be in Star Wars.

 

I follow both. They didn't hint any thing. All they were doing was preventing people from jumping the gun and amusing he had the VII role.

   @peoplesjackson Ah, I see. Don't read into that too much. He may have just passed on Terminator b/c it's shaping up to be a mess...

 

That doesn't mean he didn't get the part. Just means reason he didn't get the role in T5 or whatever it called. Had to do with who that studio felt fit better.

P.S. Or you could read Newdawn post. Which is basicly what I just said.

 

I would really suck for John Boyega if he lost the Terminator: Genesis role because JJ Abrams was taking too long and JJ didn't choose him for Episode VII.

 

While I am a big fan of John Boyega, i'm not sure that he's big enough (casting agents plays a huge role into this as well) to pass on a movie like Terminator. Actors have artistic integrity...but they also need a big movie that will push them to stardom...or to more interesting roles.

IMO, he's still very much in the running for a role in E7......playing the JJ waiting game...

Yeah it would...and you'd think that if Abrams is doing that to actors, sooner rather than later, one of them is going to somehow leak whatever they know about the production out of spite, NDA be damned. Hopefully that's not the case though, as I'd love to see John Boyega in SW.

 

If this Okeniyi was up for the same SW role that Boyega is apparently up for, it would seem to suggest that that role specifically was for an African-American and might tell us it is separate from the one Plemons is up for
