Todd the Jedi : Yeah, I guess I probably owe that Chris Cornell song another listen. I just don't generally like his solo stuff as much as Soundgarden (and for frame of reference, Badmotorfinger is my favorite album of theirs).

So isn't that "50+ Bond thread" the one I linked to that's for discussion of existing Bond films and novels? It seems to have a pretty established structure to it, between reviews and discussion of each movie in order first, and now Havac 's great novel reviews. Other than that, I only saw a couple of really old Bond threads, plus the standalone thread that I mentioned for Skyfall. So I made this a new thread, but if the Community mods do think it should be merged, that's fine (or if they want me to, I can). Believe me, I'm aware of the concept of redundant threads. ;)

Ignore Arwen, she's upset that nobody is interested enough to get his name right.

Luckily, it's rumored that they've asked Adele to do the theme song again.

Pretty sure the Adele rumor was debunked. I've seen several media outlets pick up on the One Direction secret studio time booked for "spy thriller."

they should just keep the title "bond 24". i would go see it if it was called "bond 24", even though it will probably be a pup pile.

I'm curious who might be playing the Bond villain this time around.

Yeah, I really hope they finish off Quantum and give Craig a nice, complete arc. It would be a unique accomplishment, and Craig certainly deserves the chance to tell the whole story he started.

So, has anyone else listened to James Bonding, the Nerdist podcast which reviews the films in a fairly unique order?

I was at at Gatwick Airport, looking for a book to take with me, and while I did not ultimately select it, I spotted a James Bond novel called Solo, by someone with Graeme in their name. 007 is initially assigned to stop an African civil war on his tod, and something there sets him on a mission of revenge to New York.

I actually thought that was the point of your updated thread title, 007 in New York.

It's by William Boyd. Of the recent spate of "famous authors write Bond", it's easily the best. I like Sebastian Faulks - Birdsong is a particular favourite - but he was dreadful writing Devil May Care. Jeffrey Deaver tried too hard to modernise Bond, but Boyd seems to have understood Fleming a bit better. The key though, is that Bond was Fleming. More accurately, Bond was Fleming as Fleming wished he could be.

    Thank you, Ender.

Coincidentally, I had selected a Jeffrey Deaver novel, and the back cover mentions he wrote Carte Blanche for the franchise. I did not know that famous authors were having a go at writing 007.

I think perhaps one or two people reading this thread have seen this trailer, but I'm sure others haven't:

I think most people will like it very much.

I thought the trailer was incredibly well made, a loving reference to the history of the franchise.

Mods, can we edit the title to "60+ Years of James Bond"?

A little editing, and even the low points of the series look cool.
