But in any case, that's a pretty huge cliffhanger to end the book with! Did not expect that at all!

 

Don't think Hel would be consorting with a servant of Nergal, let alone make him/her/it Her High Priest of Hel...

 

As dp4m mentioned, it's not Malack (though I originally thought that too) - if you read the dialogue between evil-Durkon and Hel carefully it's clearly a new spirit that has taken control of Durkon's body ("...your dark spirit was birthed in my hall.")

But I was actually referring more to Hel's arrival into the plot with her own schemes.

 

Yeah that passed by me too. Malack is referred to as another being. So this is a new character then.

Ugh, so many conflicting thoughts and emotions... and that's just about the art upgrade!

I wonder if Durkon's mother is still alive, and how much of an impact she will have since he is destined to bring destruction to his homeland.

It was not needed, but that is a nice upgrade in the art department.

His badass mom only has one arm.

 

Looove the Durkon backstory. His Mama sure is (was?) badass.

The new coloured hands and legs, not so much. A huge part of the Order of the Stick's charm was that all characters were essentially stick figures. Meh. I'll probably get used to it, but I don't really like it.

 

Badass Mum is badass. Podgy fingers are podgy.

 

Huh, I didn't even notice the fingers on the first read; I was distracted by the font, which I'm still unsure on. I certainly enjoy the larger, crisper image format, I tell ya what.

First look at Roy and Belkar with the art upgrade. Belkar doesn't look that different to me, but Roy's armor looks pretty different with the... armor thigh flap things? Not sure what they are called.

I'm eager to see the rest of the Order with the upgrade.

 

Belkar seems oddly skeptical for some reason. "Wait a minute, that alignment..."
