Didn't Spider-Man 3 reveal a tremendous amount of plot material before it was released?

    IGN's ASM2 Review

Can't say I'm surprised with that score. All the trailers have painted this movie as ridiculously busy, and not in a good way.

The Guardian, however, loves it. 4 Stars

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 review: 'so savvy, punchy and dashing that it won't be denied'

If I recall, IGN didn't like the original ASM either.

Probably true. But as I recall, the original ASM was also a legitimately awful movie, making their review quite accurate.

Yes well, Raimi's films aren't that great either, so I guess we'll have to wait for a new iteration for a "better" version. And if it doesn't happen, well, no worries. There's too many - far too many - goddamned superhero movies out there anyway.

The IGN article had a plethora of basic grammatical/spelling mistakes and in general isn't well written. Which doesn't means they're wrong about the movie, but yeah, The Guardian seemed to really like it.

Venom and Sinister Six will happen before ASM4.

Sony has already announced intentions to produce a third and fourth "The Amazing Spider-Man" film as well as spin-off movies about "Venom" and "The Sinister Six".

Speaking with Den of Geek, series producer Matt Tolmach has now revealed the timetable for the various films:

"Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we're going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be."

Sony had previously announced a May 4th 2018 release for the fourth Spider-Man film, but that's no longer a certainty - that date will be for a Spider-Man movie in the franchise, which one though is in question.

Personally, after this first trilogy of films does it's Sinister Six thing, I hope they move beyond the more classic characters and bring in some of the newer villains.

Granted, Venom would imply a possible Carnage or Anti-Venom storyline at some point, but I'd love the hell out of a Morlun story (so long as they keep the stranger totem elements of those stories at bay).

I was starting to wonder if there's too much of a good thing in regards to the whole superhero movie fad, but now I know. And now it's no longer a fad, but a full blown pandemic.

It would seem to me to make a lot more sense to compare the two reviews on the basis of their actual content. Why did one like it, and what reasons did the other give for calling it bad? Their grammar is sort of beside the point.

It is interesting to think about it though- by time all the current plans play out by 2030-ish, literally half (or more, depending on your definition) of the modern, post-studio-system history of cinema will have been fully dominated by various superhero and sub-genre superhero films. Almost a quarter of the entire history of film, even.
