Unless he gets a death that's somehow even more definite than the one he had in Episode I, it seems very likely to me that he'll eventually pop up in the new post-ROTJ EU era. Maybe not the ST itself, but in future books and comics. Does anyone else think this could happen?

Considering the potential cashcow Luke vs Maul would be? I think the odds are in Maul's favour, yes. :p

I really think Maul will be in "Rebels" at some point. But would they allow enough leeway to keep him around in the timeline long enough to post up in the post ROTJ era?

This is assuming Maul doesn't die in "son of Dathimor" but that is an adaptation of a late S6 clone wars arc, I believe, I don't think the TV show as planning to bump in him off in S6 considering they had scripts up to S8.

Somehow I'm getting one of those feelings we haven't seen the end of Vader 2 errr I mean Maul! This NU is going to be even crazier than the EU was at times...maybe.

I guess it depends on how Son of Dathomir ends and whether he's in Lords of the Sith.

I'm calling that Darth Maul will be in the new movies. The original Darth Maul, with no cybernetics.

I like how we've gone past discussing how Maul could have survived things like being cut in half and thrown down a shaft and moved on to discussing how he could have survived things like ageing. [face_batting]

Maul would be in his 50's or 60's by ROTJ.

The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be...unnatural.

He may pop up in a comic or something, but not in the ST, for the simple reason that Luke vs. Robo-Maul on the big screen would be a pop-cultural laughingstock of Jar Jar proportions. The Mouse is trying to resuscitate the brand from its PT doldrums, not sink it any deeper into the waters of late-night-TV punchlinery. They'll avoid anything that reminds consumers of TPM, even if Maul is the only thing most people seemed to like about that movie.

We have to keep in mind though, he's not human. And I don't think there's a single instance implying how long Zabraks actually live, so there's a good bit of leeway.

Darth Maul will survive by transferring his Living Force into Kamino produced clones. [face_mischief]

    Edit: fixed for nucanon compliance

I agree that he won't pop up in the ST because that would require people to watch TCW in order to understand the ST. The Saga has to make sense by itself.

My point is that 50's/60's is still pretty young. Maul is only 15-20 years older than Vader, basically Obi-wan's age or slightly older.

You've figured out the secret plot of episode VII.

Maul, The Emporer and Boba Fett team up and travel around the galaxy covering up every bottomless pit they can find, violating intergalactic zoning laws in the process.

According to Wookieepedia the average lifespan of Togrutas is 94 years. Ahsoka in the Sequel Trilogy confirmed too. Spread the word, Maul and Ahsoka confirmed! :D

FWIW Sam Witwer said in an interview recently that Darth Maul wouldn't have been killed off by the end of his arc in Clone Wars had it gone on.

Seriously though it would be absolutely terrible if he did pop up in one of the new films.
