The corner store up the street has a rack of used books they sell for charity. When I went for the papers this morning I found that someone had offloaded a bunch of Warhammer and Warhammer 40k books. Most I'd either read (40K) or didn't interest me (not much into the regular Warhammer books). But three stood out - Brothers of the Snake by Dan Abnett (hardcover, 40K); Scourge of the Heretic by Sandy Mitchell (paper, 40K), and Witch Hunter by C.L.Werner {Warhammer, paper). I got the last one as I like the 40K Inquisitor stories and this sounds similar. All 3 books came to about £3.

I picked up the first, third, and fourth "Harry Potter" novels, in hardcover. They all appear to be first American editions as well. :)

I know all about the history surrounding the first book's title. J.K. Rowling said she only let it slide because she had no way of fighting it, while still being published. As a result, the first film had to have some scenes shot more than once, when the Stone was referenced by its full name.

Yes. Sorcerer's Stone=[face_shame_on_you] I only put up with TSS because I have the unabridged scholastic audiobooks for the first six books, which are all excellent.

It does puzzle me that someone in Britain actually thought Americans couldn't understand philosophy...

Oh, you can blame Scholastic, in the United States, for that one.

Amazon UK order came on Sunday which contained, among other things, OxCrimes, editted by Mark Ellingham and Peter Florence. It's a fairly hefty paperback crime anthology (just under 500 pages with 27 stories). The introduction is by Ian Rankin. It's the third in an anthology series to benefit Oxfam. (OxTales and OxTravels are the others.). I've read a few of the stories so far and what I've read is pretty good. Neil Gaiman's Sherlock Holmes story is my favorite so far.
