ST Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata) in Episode VII

I'm kind of hoping she's the royalty that gets helped in EVII and then becomes involved with either Boyega or Gleeson.

No one knows ANYTHING about this movie so far other than what actors are in it. None of the new character descriptions or names are known yet, nor are who or what each of the new cast members are playing. Also nothing is known about the plot either. The whole thing is still one big mystery.

Maybe they padded the schedule in case there were sand storms or other delays in Abu Dhabi?

 

1) There's an Asajj Ventress rumor based on her haircut
2) There's an Ahsoka Tano rumor based on her facial features
3) There's an "Obi-wan's descendant" rumor based on a bit of disavowed gossip from Latino Review THR
4) There's a "Boyega's/Lando's/Mace Windu's sister/love-interest/mother/daughter/etc." rumor based on race
5) There's a Sith rumor based on speculation from the Latino Review

That's about it, I think.

 

The Obi Wan rumor is not from Latino Review its from THR.

 

Ok-based on her acting skill and that picture on the beach, does ANYONE really think she'll be reduced to a small role?

but they were talking in response to this article and if you look at the dates the THR one was written on Jan 11 2014 and the Latino one was written on Jan 16 2014
The latest bit to surface this week is that Abrams and Lucasfilm are now searching for a twentysomething female actress who is either of mixed race or black. The rumor is that Obi-Wan Kenobi had a daughter or granddaughter.

It's been said before that due to her status she must have a major role in this movie. It should be borne in mind however that the same could've been said about Samuel L Jackson before TPM and yet he had barely more than a cameo. His character got more screen time later of course.

With a bit of luck, even if her part is supporting, we may see more of her in the other sequels, assuming her character doesn't get killed.

 

I know it's wrong, but part of me suddenly wants to see another bikini scene in Star Wars...

Good point. But it wasn't like it was just rumors of her meeting. There were a bunch of rumors, from her being in the cast but unannounced, from her being Obi Wan's descendant.

 

I still think that she will play Ventress.

 

I think she could pull off Darth Talon, or a character like her, and we know that George Lucas was playing around with the character, during the making of the TCW era Darth Maul Videogame, befor Lucasarts was closed.

 

Yeah, that's the rumor I think she was referring to when she said it was untrue then but it's true now. She really wasn't cast until a week are two ago, like she said, despite auditioning for the role months ago.

And who knows why it took them so long to decide who to put in the role? Maybe they were originally going to go with someone else but the deal fell through.

I trust JJ to get casting right, though. The same thing happened with Chris Pine. He auditioned for Kirk, didn't hear anything for months, thought he'd lost the part, but then JJ decided to go back and pick him for the role at the last minute. And it worked out great, IMO.

 

With the Latino Review article saying there is a female, probably Sith, villain, we've got 50% odds on it being Lupita (assuming they are right, of course). Either she or Gwen would be great in that role and I'm psyched to get a female villain finally!

 

I vote for Gwen Christie as the villain, due to her Amazonian physique:





She would have made a wonderful Wonder Woman.



Lupita, on the other hand, is petite with a baby face, so although she COULD play a villainess, I think she's more suited to a "good girl" role:

 

That Twi'lek is so bright she hurts my eyes.

I hope if any of the new cast are colorful aliens they stick with blue, green, or purple.
