ST Lando possibly in Episode 7 (or 8) after all?

In ESB Lando was a retired scoundrel administrating a mining facility and living a tranquil life. Maybe after being a general in times of war he just decided to go back to what he endeared most. After all, he betrayed Han cause he wanted to keep the empire away his city for the sake of his people.
Perhaps he even returned to Bespin. He doesn't need to follow the rebels or Han and Leia wherever they go. They're friends but each one to their own.

But don't worry, I'm sure we'll hear about Lando in one way or another, in one episode or another.

I was thinking maybe they'll stick Lando in a later episode in a smaller role.

 

I wonder if Lando still owns the Falcon at this point in the new Canon.

 

I imagine near the end of the film Ridley, Boyega, and maybe Han are trapped on a planet in need of rescue. So when they call in the cavalry to help them fight out of the situation, the person who makes the most sense to be piloting that rescue ship is Lando. People in the audience will go nuts if they introduce Lando unannounced in some high-intensity situation.

 

I was thinking that if, say, Han dies perhaps Lando will fill a role ( a connection to the old underworld) that the other characters will be in need of in a later film.

 

I would think so. I would hope so. I always wanted to see more stories about the days when the Falcon was in his possession.

 

Exactly. I don't wanna see the guy do the Cha Cha. There's nothing we need to see Lando do in Ep. VII that Billy Dee can't pull off.

I get more excited about Ep. VII by the day, but I'll say it again, I am going to be very disappointed if Lando isn't in this. I know the cast is already pretty crowded and blah blah blah, but this is Lando we're talking about here!

If they asked the guy that played Wedge to be in it, there's no way they would snub BDW and not even ask him. He will definitely be in either 7 or 8/both

 

Actually, I can’t believe no one’s mentioned that before, myself included. Lando has always been the bigger of the two. No way they would ask Dennis Lawson and not Billy Dee. Ridiculous.

 

Trust me, I have mentioned this before. Don't think it got much reaction but nonetheless I too felt it was outrageous for Lawson to be pursued while BDW is apparently ignored.

They might be holding him in reserve for the later movies.

 

i agree. i think he'll appear in ep 8. to mirror his appearance in the 2nd film of the original trilogy. also it makes sense to hold him off til the second movie cuz the cast list for ep. 7 is very big. u dont want to squeeze in too many cameos cuz it just gets ridiculous. also there will be more room for him in ep. 8 cuz han will be dying in ep. 7

He should make his appearance in Episode VIII ala ESB.

It'd be a shame if Han and Lando didn't see each other on the big screen at least one more time. It'd also be a shame if Han died without us getting to see him on Corellia.

But I wonder, how would Lando react if he didn't hear of Han's death until VIII?

 

Prior to the cast announcement at the script read, I just assumed if the others were back, so was he.

Part thinks he is not being brought back, though I can't imagine why.

Part of me is hoping that he is in it and it is being kept under wraps so as to surprise the audience, that Lando will appear unexpectedly to rescue Han or someone or they have to meet the local business kingpin or leader of a planer and it turns out to be Lando.
