According to the Hollywood Reporter, which is a reliable trade publication:

"Harrison Ford will miss as many as eight weeks of filming on Star Wars: Episode VII after the actor broke his ankle on set, a source close to the production has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ford was taken to a hospital after injuring his ankle on Thursday, but shooting will continue in his absence. THR's source added that Episode VII is still expected to make its Dec. 18, 2015 release date."

Harrison Ford's injury would never have happened if they just added the door in post.

Thanks for the update. It around the time I thought. 6-8 weeks. Hopefully he's able to walk by then without a limp.

Well, in the absence of a sand storm in Abu Dhabi I suppose the SW 'curse' had to show up somewhere. And since this is Harrison's second time injuring himself on set of a Lucasfilm feature it tends to make superstitious sense now.:p

How does missing 8 weeks while not delaying/impacting filming jive with the rumors of Han's gigantic role?

It could mean it's not as gigantic as some people think, which is what I've thought all along. I guess time will tell.

If it was gigantic....it still will be........the fact that every sources in those newspapers are panicking regarding the state of Ford's ankle is a pretty good indicator that his role was important.

And like I said on the last page, I don't think we can really gauge how large his role will be either way as a result of the injury, considering he was out 6 weeks for TOD and they still continued to shoot in his absence. As Claire mentioned above, time will tell.

It'd be awesome if this was misdirection by Abrams to cover for Ford not shooting because Solo dies.

Unless you actually have a hospital report that it was broken, there's no way to know for sure.

Nah, they would just kill him outright. Thats what they do to actors whose character die in movies...right?

I suspect they were filming the scene where Han Solo say's 'I've got a bad feeling about this' - then crash !!!!!

Meanwhile on Tatooine, Luke grabs his chest and says ' I fear something dreadful has happened. Like millions of insurance dollars suddenly cried out in terror and were silenced !!'

I'm just saying...if you get a bunch of reports that Ford is barely involved in filming, or left the UK early...you'd have tons of people digging for info on why, and theories about Solo getting offed gaining a lot of steam.

The explanation behind Han Solo's 'limp' in Episode VII will launch entire lines of comic books, novels, and fan fiction.

There was an explanation for the sizeable horizontal scar on his chin in Ann Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy.;)
