Full Series Luminara Unduli in Rebels (MASSIVE SPOILERS)

So, Luminara Unduli is allegedly alive and imprisoned by the Empire. So what do you think? When/how will she die? Is she already dead? Will the characters get any interaction with her?

 

The real Luminara Unduli is dead. But the Empire managed to retreive some of her DNA. The woman in the holovid is Luuminara Unduli, her clone. Needless to say she serves the Empire and uses the Dark Side.

It was like seeing an old friend, long gone.

For near ten years, now, I thought Jedi Master Luminara Unduli was KIA on Kasyyyk during the execution of Order 66.



I had to catch my breath a little when I saw the holo of her (seemingly) alive -- if not well -- and in prison garb.

Is she really still alive, or is this all the result of a cruel hoax designed to draw out the rebel with a lightsaber first spotted on Lothal?

No idea.

But I'll say this, seeing Rebels utilizing beloved characters from other productions (but without shoving TCW characters into leading roles for the new series) is a very, very welcome development and a trend I hope to see continued.

 

I think that she really is alive, but I also think the rest of your sentence is true. This has trap written all over it. "Let's get the Holonet to broadcast the news that we've captured a Jedi Master, and mention which system she's being held in. Any would-be rebel cells will be tripping over each other in an attempt to free her." Now I wonder how long she's been imprisoned. Is this a recent thing, or has poor Luminara been on that hellhole for years? How did they capture her? How did she escape Order 66? (I'm going to blame Wookiees for that one.)

And could she please give us some indication of how Barriss' actions affected her before the Inquisitor inevitably murders her? For that matter, will she be able to put up a fight, or will she die like Shaak Ti in those deleted scenes? I doubt she has her lightsaber anymore.

 

Something tells me if they are going to kill her off (likely), there won't be any real time to exchange pleasantries with her would-be rescuers. There's almost no way she'll mention Barriss unless her former Padawan has some significance to the plot, if this is the case. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to know her reaction to Barriss' betrayal of the Order, but I wouldn't count on it.

Anyway, I expect she'd die like Shaak Ti to Grievous in that Invisible Hand deleted scene, only replace Grievous with the Inquisitor. I doubt she'd have her lightsaber if she was imprisoned that long. And then in the next Star Wars Weekends, Jason Isaacs will phone up Olivia d'Abo (or whoever plays Luminara in Rebels) and apologize for killing her.

Shaak Ti has to die again, if only because it's practically a running joke how many times she's been killed off.

 

I'm hoping we get at least one action-y sequence with Luminara before she's killed off. Perhaps something along the lines of, she's being escorted down a hallway by a couple of stromtroopers, and then using the force to throw them down the hallway against a wall, and attempts to escape. She is soon cut off and surrounded by the Inquisitor and a squad of stormtroopers, and is taken back to her cell for further interrogation and/or torturing.

 

She died.

This will be interesting. Hope to see a mention of Barriss.

 

I was a little concerned when I first saw that Kanan and Ezra were Jedi and the setting is 5 years before ANH.

I felt that the GFFA still having Jedi so close to the first appearance of the New Hope might dilute the significance.

Now there is a third Jedi?

I know she isn't a main cast member - but I think that is just too many Jedi still alive.

Of course, if it could be a fake - footage is altered or it is a surgically altered decoy.

Love that Threepio and Artoo will appear - will this will mean maybe Bail and Leia too?

 

I wonder if Bail himself isn't trying to rescue her himself. He did attempt to find Shaak and Obi-Wan to recruit them to his rebellion, after all.

 

Crackpot- it isn't Luminara, but a disguised Bariss.

 

Since the series begins with the Rebels meeting Ezra, and the trailers have shown him performing Force enhanced jumps, etc. I'm assuming that the clips are not all from the first (or one particular) episode but from a range of episodes completed so far.

So the droids (and possibility of Bail/Leia) and the Luminara episodes may not be from the same episode either.

 

She doesn't look like Barriss though. The two of them don't actually look that much like each other in the face. I know, Rako Hardeen, but the idea is still pretty crackpot.

 

She is out of her of her usual robes and the character designs are different to TCW - there are differences in Kenobi and C-3PO.

BTW, that glimpse of the McQuarrie Threepio is cool

 

Only difference I can spot aside from the clothes is that her features are slightly rounder.

 

There is close to a 100% chance Barriss gets a mention. Kanan is about to take on an apprentice and Unduli is the perfect person to warn him about the dangers that entails. Or she will warn Ezra about how easy it is to fall off the path. The story of Barriss conveys the message that any Jedi, no matter how well meaning they seem to be, can turn to the dark side if they succumb to hatred. That is a lesson that could do Ezra a lot of good.

 

That's assuming Kanan gets to meet Luminara before she dies.

 

And that is assuming she dies. She probably will, but who knows?

The Ghost crew finding Luminara dead, or not finding her at all, would be anti-climatic. Filoni knows the exact emotions and hopes he is raising by putting her in both the show and the trailer. Any other Jedi could be used as a pawn for an imperial trap. Yet he chose the Jedi that has an extremely useful story to tell (both to Kanan/Ezra and to the fans).

 

I like how we're all using Filoni here, when Weisman and Kinberg are just as much in charge of the plot as he is.

 

The hatted one has a shorter name and a goofier one to boot. The use of Filoni is silliness and efficiency converged.

 

You won't know it's anti-climatic until you see it in context in the episode itself and see the story that lead up to the moment - whether she lives or dies.

She could die. She could be a fake. She could be the plot of the entire season - they get there too late and keep searching until the end of season 1

We won't know anything until then

Trailers and clips are just teases. Nothing more.
