I really, really like this one. I posted a link in the TOS Blog thread and am about to put my commentary there too (can never decide whether to talk about the EGTW stuff here or there, but I always use that thread out of tradition).

You better keep up the level of awesome for the final two, Jason... :p

Seriously, that's some great work there. The roster of the 181st was an unexpected treat!

    *picks self up*

There are times it's good to be an Ewok.

    *dusts self down*

Zeta: insofar as the Attaintor carries an entire TIE wing, I'd vaguely envisaged the ship as an ISD, but I equally vaguely forgot to specify anything in the notes, so it's officially completely undefined, even at the level of authorial intention. :p

    myron: thanks.

I'll stop spamming Jason's thread now.

That's alright, authorial intent is overrated anyway.

If you were really spamming Jason's thread, then you wouldn't be trying to answer valid questions that could also be directed at you.

Fun! Your Valance minis scenario was the first time I was aware of you, Jason, as in "this is a name I will recognize from now on".

    &#%¥ YEAH!

    :)

OK, since you revealed that you named him "Beilert", I must confess that this has always troubled me. How so you pronounce "Beilert"? I honestly have spent time thinking about this; depressing, huh?

You're my new favorite person. Valance is such a great character.

This is a prelude to his Rebels arc, no doubt. [face_whistling]

As I admitted in the piece, it's a terrible name that I now regret. I'm sorry.

It strikes me as a name ripe for shortening. I would have thought he'd be called "Beil", pronounced "Be-Il".

I just call him "Valance" and ignore the horrible name some idiot thought up. NOT PART OF MY PERSONAL CANON.

I've always said "bay-lert". I think it sounds more namey that way.

Indeed. You must imagine my shock when, after seeing this mysterious awesome badass I'd never heard of before appear in my comic, I quickly wookieepedia'd him and discovered his first name to be...Beilert.

You can always call the "movie reference" trump card. It always works!

I don't know who valence shell is, but that's how I'd pronounce the name too. But I pronounce everything as if it were Latin.

I don't think an apology is warranted, as I never had a problem with the name and understood the reference.

I WILL say, however, that the Motti profile should have stayed in the book, regardless of whether it reiterates the Generationals vs. New Breed feud or not, largely because very little about his backstory was known and I very much like what you did with it.

Also loved the Tyrant material, but yeah... it could've been longer. Lotta gold nuggets in what WAS there, though. =D=

New? Where have you been? :p

(Before you get too excited about the cover art, read the book summary)

There should be more thought given to abbreviations like in the case of SWEARHAT. "Something of the Something" format doesn't make them easy.

Don't get me started. AotC and RotS being next to each other drives me nuts--if there's another "of the" in the ST I'm done with this franchise. [face_talk_hand]

Ah, Soaty-Eeotag. Can't wait to talk about it.

But yeah, to clarify: It's not a novel/series about stormtroopers. They play a role in the series, yes, and some of the kids who go to the Academy wind up as troopers. But that's not the main focus.

What Zare's wearing on the cover is actually ... grav-ball armor.

Is there much of a meta-plot at this point, or are you/they taking it one book at a time?

Wait, don't answer that. I'll save it for the interview. :D
