SG1 is a favorite in our house, although I will admit I stuck with it entirely just to see Richard Dean Anderson. The rest of the cast and characters grew on me. I have not gone back and watched a bunch of the SG1 episodes though. I catch them when my husband decides to re-watch things. MacGyver is another story.

TrakNar, do show us what you created with the avatar generator. It's definitely a time sink, but oh so much fun! In fact, I may pop over there now...

I didn't see much of SG1, but my husband did occasionally back in the day. As Goodwood & Briannakin say, though, my impression was that the show was pretty "trope-ridden."

Edit: Yes, Goodwood, I see that now. Sorry—I guess I just missed that part of the post the first time. :)

It was me what said it, Findswoman, and Bri confirmed it... ;)

But yeah, I've never really been a huge television-follower, not since around late high school. That was when I was really getting neck-deep in the Internet, and all the stuff going on there (plus college), kind of put a damper on both the time and enthusiasm for network TV especially. More recently I was able to get into cable television a bit when I moved into my own apartment back in '08, but in my current domicile that's not an option any more. Ah well.

They're saved on my computer, so after I eat dinner, I'll hop on it and post them. I'm leaving this evening, and wasting time on the computer is a good idea. Need to tackle an RP post anyway and drop a status message.

QuickEdit: Findswoman - Uploaded the pics.

First one was an attempt to make my trainer character with the avatar options available. The hair's not quite right, but it's close enough.

Second one was made with their Pokemon trainer game and is far more accurate, right down to what my trainer is currently wearing in-game. I added sideburns because I thought they looked cute.

TrakNar: She's pretty cute, I like her!

Well, today is apparently Baseball Day in Canada, and you Canucks are certainly getting your money's worth. The Tigers are in Toronto playing the Blue Jays, and it's tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 17th inning. I've been screaming myself silly at both teams...we were up with a 5-0 lead until the 8th inning when our bullpen blew it there and in the 9th.

I hate our bullpen. They suck.

I took a picture with John Barrowman in the costume, I love the smolder he has going on (I took a picture of the picture because I don't have the digital copy yet).:

WHAT! YOU MET AND TOOK A PIC WITH JOHN BARROWMAN AND HE DIDN'T GRAB SOME INAPPROPRIATE PART OF YOU?!?! I am disappointed, but still rather jealous.

But great costume! Is that a wig or did you dye it?

Edit: Just finished my first long-fic in 2 years! *Throws confetti!*

I risked a four-block walk down to Sheetz. My foot fared about as well as to be expected. Just slightly sore.

I also showed my bruised foot to the kids and they gawked at it. My half-brother was shocked at how bruised it is (and the bruising is actually starting to fade). It's all green and blue.

    Nice costume mavjade.

Stang! I am depressed today. I have been dealing with a lot of family problems, but today it was supposed to be a fun week. I signed the kids up for scuba lessons at the local college that has summer classes for kids. Both are good swimmers so I didn't think it would be a problem. Unfortunately I was wrong.

It was cold this winter. We had ice on the lake until May. The water is not too cold today, but my oldest son has less than 5% body fat and gets chilled easily in the water (he didn't get this slender build from my side of the family, I can tell you that). Anyway, today he was going to take his swimming test and he started turning bluish and shivering so badly he couldn't swim. I go to pick him at at the end of the day and the instructor says, "I will give him another chance at the swim test tomorrow, but if he doesn't make the standard he can't continue the training." I asked about a refund and he said the college handles all the money and I would have to talk to them. Their online refund policy says you can get refunds if you cancel within 5 days of the start of class. I left a voicemail message to the head of the finance at the college to see if I can get a credit. I paid $400 for my son to take this class. That's a lot of money to flush down the toilet! And this is three days after I spent $900 to repair my car. DRL must think I am made of money!

So I am waiting for the finance lady to call me back. Meanwhile my youngest son who has mild cerebral palsy--the one everybody was worried about not being able to handle this class--he's doing fine. So that is a plus.

The best outcome is my older son passes the swim test tomorrow, the second best is I get a credit or a partial refund. The worst outcome is I am told, "Sorry, but you are so out of luck."

It is funny how you are standing strong and suddenly one more thing going wrong just pushes you over. This sucks...but I guess some people have things much worse, so I shouldn't complain. :(

mavjade, absolutely stunning costume! The hair especially.

Jedi_Lover, what a drag! Darn that mean ol' Darth Real Life! I do hope this will all get sorted out, and my fingers are crossed for your son.

Not much on my end, except that the dress I ordered from Zulily for the upcoming West Virginia wedding ended up shipping last week (they had originally given tomorrow, the 12th, as the projected shipping date), and in fact it arrived two days ago. Very relieved that I won't have to frantically e-mail them and have them do the rush-ship thing! Whew.

Well, Jedi_Lover, even though people may have things worse off, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to blow off some steam by explaining your feelings to others you know. Even relatively puny problems can affect someone, and as long as the reaction to them is proportional, then let'er rip. In my experience the biggest whiners are not those who have actual legit concerns (I'd damn well be concerned if the same thing had happened to any son of mine), but those who make mountains out of molehills.

In other words, you're definitely not suffering from what some rather waggish Internet louts would call #firstworldproblems.

I heard that term yesterday for the first time from my son. There wasn't enough room in the fridge to put in the pizza box and he said, "Oh no, I've run into a first world problem!" I think he said it was from a Weird Al song.

Thanks guys for hearing my vent and your support! [:D]

I just got a call from the finance people and they said there are no refunds, but if my son doesn't pass the swim test tomorrow they will agree to giving him a raincheck and allowing him to take the course next year. =D= I said, "Great!" I'll take that!

I guess they expected me to complain because the lady said, "I really appreciate your understanding of our situation. We have already paid the instructor." Hey, that is better than nothing. If he doesn't pass this year hopefully he will be bigger and stronger next year.

I am once again happy. I think I will write more of my fanfics now! :D

Goodwood that is funny. I haven't seen that before. The other first world problem the kids complain about is the WiFi doesn't cover the entire house. :p

Thanks everyone! It was a lot of fun and JB was super nice, funny and completely naughty in his panels. [face_batting][face_tee_hee]

Oh believe me, I was hoping he would do something inappropriate, but alas he did not. The line was several hundred people so you really only had time to say "Hi" take the pic and a "thank you" before you moved on. But he did say "Well look at you!" when I got up to him. :D

The hair is a wig (Arda Wigs are awesome!), I only wish my hair looked like that in real life... but not blond. The only reason it looks good on me is that you can't see my eyebrows... I do not have the coloring for blond.

Glad your dress got there on time, Findswoman! :D

I'm glad things will work out with your son Jedi_Lover - if he doesn't get to do everything this year, I'd get it in writing from the college, just in case.

Definitely! There is no way people are just going to remember this next year and with my luck there will be turn over in the finance department. I just feel better knowing I am not out $400.

I have brought my boy to specialists in growth and they don't see anything wrong...other than he is in the 3 percentile when it comes to height and weight. His dad was supposedly very thin when he was a boy and I think my father was so thin as a child he had to be sent to a doctor. So I guess he gets it from both sides of the family. His baby brother is muscular and outweighs him by forty pounds. He takes after me. My father was freakishly strong and I have been weightlifting for about thirty years. I dragged him to the gym all last semester and made him do weights, tire tossing and rope climbing. He just cannot grow muscle. :(
