    He retired again?

Frankie Edgar has 16 fights in the UFC. 8 of them are against Penn, Maynard, and Ben Henderson.

Penn pretty much hinted the last two weeks that this would likely be his last fight either way. He pretty much confirmed it in the Octogon after the match.

Not a good year for the UFC so far. The FOX deal has resulted in oversaturation, **** cards left and right, fighters getting hurt and popping pills to get in fight shape faster than they should be, and the recognizable faces fading away.

    Signal boost via WrestlingObserver.com:

-- Fundafighter, the number one crowdsourcing destination in mixed martial arts, today announced it has launched a profile to support and help raise funds for of one of the most beloved trainers in combat sports, “Muay Thai Masta” Peter Sisomphou. One of the top trainers in Muay Thai, his experience and expertise is legendary in Thailand and in the combat sports circles in Canada and America. “Muay Thai Masta” Peter has fostered the careers of Conrad Pla, Firas Zahabi, John “The Bull” Makdessi, Yves “Tiger” Jabouin, Alex Garcia, and David “The Crow” Loiseau, among others. His teaching style goes way beyond the rigors of technique. He serves as a friend, mentor and often father figure for his rising and established athletes. In April of this year, Peter suffered a heart attack that required immediate emergency quadruple bypass surgery. His heart was functioning at only 15 percent, but following superior medical attention and treatment, coupled with his strong will, he is on his way to recovery. Since he cannot return to active coaching, and an active income, until he has fully recovered, the martial arts and mixed martial arts community has rallied around their “Muay Thai Masta” and donated their time to raise funds to supplement his income. “We consider Muay Thai Masta Peter family here at Fundafighter and we will do anything to help him,” said Greg Hoffman, co-founder of Fundafighter. “We were honored to create his profile on Fundafighter and do our part in getting the word out to the Muay Thai and mixed martial arts community that Masta Peter is in need of support following his recent medical emergency. We wish Peter a speedy recovery and encourage everyone in the combat sports community to do the same.” To support “Masta” Peter, please visit his Fundafighter page at: http://fundafighter.com/fighters/masta-peter-sisomphou

Prediction - that fight will never happen. Diaz is crazy as ****, and Anderson coming off major injury. Nice hype wave for now, though.

From UFC.com: Scheduled to return to the Octagon in Brasilia, Brazil on September 13 against Paulo Thiago, veteran Joe "Diesel" Riggs's first UFC bout since 2006 has been put on hold after an accident at Riggs' home in Arizona Monday night. The UFC released the following statement on the incident. “We were made aware that newly-signed UFC competitor Joe Riggs was involved in an unfortunate accident last night. While cleaning his permitted firearm (a pistol), the gun discharged, injuring his hand and upper thigh. Riggs was transported to a nearby hospital in Arizona where he is being treated by physicians. We wish Joe a speedy recovery.” A replacement opponent for Thiago is being sought and will be announced shortly.

War Machine was on a season of TUF and is a mess. I've never kept up with him but I know his antics (jail, street fights and more) have amused hardcore MMA fans for a while.
It sounded early on like he had emotional problems so this isn't surprising.

Wow, I read up on War Machine's incident. His girlfriend, one of the victims, posted a disturbing recount of what happened.

Dude needs to be locked away for good.

Scott Coker very classy in letting Eddie Alvarez out of his Bellator contract - immediately signed with UFC and is booked to fight Cowboy Cerrone in a co-main. Big talent pickup for the UFC.

Mike Pyle and Ben Henderson got the **** beat out of them tonight by inferior fighters. DFW cannot catch a break with these cards, they are terrible, and his top fighters continue to underachieve.
