I voted for all the DH comic book series I ready (except Dark Empire), and voted "other" because I really liked Knight Errant and its premise.

Dark Empire, TOTJ, and Republic/Dark Times. Love 'em. Agent of the Empire was also near perfect but I didn't vote for it since it had so few issues to make mistakes. I have a bit of a soft spot for Classic Star Wars and Marvel Star Wars both, as well.

Multiple votes are allowed? That's a little silly.

I clicked AotE, though Legacy (both) and XWRS (if it were there) are strong contenders too.

I love Dark Times and Agent of the Empire. I also really enjoyed what I read of Dawn of the Jedi (the first trade, basically), the idea of a truly ancient world in Star Wars, a bit like the first few issues of TotJ. I get that it's out there, but... why didn't people like it?

Also, I prefer Legacy II over Legacy I because it goes back to the essence of Star Wars, so I didn't quite vote for it. Like 'em both, but didn't really get to see enough of the stuff I liked about Legacy I.

I really loved Republic, Rebellion, Empire, and Dark Times... but over all KOTOR captured that elusive SW magic. I think it helped that (Revan cameos aside) it wasn't beholden to preexisting characters, and thus could just get on with doing its own thing and its own story.

First post in here and not before time!
I have to say Tales of the Jedi is as good as any comic series I've ever read, not just in the Star Wars universe. To me that was the absolute peak of the Star Wars comics. Incredible characters, amazing new worlds and superb stories. All topped off by those stunning Hugh Fleming covers.
I've always been quite surprised at just how popular KOTOR is. I enjoyed it of course but the best SW comic? Not for me.
Honourable mentions also go to Dark Empire 1, Crimson Empire, Dark Times and Legacy.

I've only read a few of the Republic/Dark Times comics.

Since that's getting so many votes on here, for the others voting for it: what did you like most about it?

Republic did an excellent examination of the nature of the dark side with Vos. They had the time and space to really go to town with it.

Weaved in alongside that were a set of fairly good Obi-Wan and Anakin stories that set up for ROTS what the films couldn't - a sense of tragedy, as in the comics Anakin wasn't the heedless arse he was in AOTC.

Comic book Anakin went psycho for the sake of it whenever nobody who mattered was looking, so I wouldn´t call the clone wars comics an improvement above AOTC, at least there I could see where he came from and why he behaved like he did. It´s an usual problem I find in EU materials though, they make Anakin too close to the DS and Vader too close to pulling back. Anakin is mostly a more emotionally unstable version of ESB Luke, not a growing sociopath.

As long as this thread is a thing, I might as well point out that today's the last day of DH's big-ass omnibus sale, wherein a great deal of their SW material is available in digital form for $10. Remember that $100+ Marvel SW hardcover they announced last month? This gets you all that material for $50.

Actually, the Marvel Omnibus Marvel is actually putting out will only go to issue #44, and for $50 to Dark Horse you can get the complete series. In fact, even if you got the physical Dark Horse Omnibuses that collect Marvel Star Wars, you could get all of the issues in the Marvel SW Hardcover for $50.

Dark Empire is, was, and will be the best of the best. Dark Empire is king. After the king, I guess Dark Times is some sort of prince.
