A lot of people like to believe that he was on Alderaan when it blew up lol.

I'd post something from Wookiepedia but none of that is canon now so...

I like to think he retired to Naboo away from public life because he felt responsible for the rise of the Empire, and he became a mellow old wise gungan and perhaps a Boss one day

    he became a hermit

consumed by guilt that he indirectly caused the clone wars,

    however:

    some say

he took control of gungan city after the death of Boss Nass and is now a military dictator:

    General Jar Jar.

Maybe we will see what happens or at least what he is up to in Rebel or even Ep.7-9! (Though I highly doubt we will see him in Ep.7-9. I was just saying we could.)

Considering that his is the last voice you hear, exclaiming "Weesa FREE!" on Coruscant during the celebration of the fall of the Empire (ROTJ Special Edition), I think he stayed on with the Senate up until Palpatine finally completely dissolved it in A New Hope, then just more or less stayed there. :)

I think it's just a random Gungan but I just realized if it really is Jar Jar then I think that is hilarious that George Lucas would insert the PT's most hated character into the OT and give him the final line of the saga (at the time) lol I never thought of it like that before, it's like a giant middle finger to the haters lol

Technically, he didn't. Assuming it was Jar Jar, he was inserted before the release of TPM by two years, so Jar Jar wasn't "the most hated" yet. I think GL actually thought he'd be a hit. That said, I tend to lean more toward it being Jar Jar since he became a more prominent figure, and more recognized than just some random Gungan. Still, I stand by my theory of what happened to Binkssssss (Sorry. I liked Boss Nass ;))

There actually was enough buzz about that addition that it did get answered; it is some random Gungan.

Jar-Jar did provide somewhat of a predicament, being such an important character in TPM; he had to become nonexistent by the end of the trilogy. Retreating into the Senate was a good enough send off. After the disbanding of the of the Imperial Senate, Jar-Jar probably returned to his home on Naboo. Being a hero in his time, I'd assume he'd hold some sort of governing power, maybe taking up Boss Nass' role.

Oh, cool. I hadn't heard that about the random Gungan. As for the rest, The "return to Naboo" idea works for me :)

Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending on your perspective) Episode VII may answer this question.

However, if Mr. Binks is mentioned in the opening crawl, I will walk out of the movie. :p

Well it's no longer 'canon' but he did take Padme's place in the Senate. Also I wouldn't be surprised if he made an appearance in Rebels.

In theory, anything after ROTS is not PT. However, to the extent that this discussion does not infringe on any other forum, this is as good as place as any to discuss this.

LOL That made me laugh. Also crazy idea here, but maybe it was even GL thinking about the future and how he'll be free.

You can hear him at the end of RoTJ in the Naboo celebration scene featured in the DVD release (and blu-ray as well). So yes, he survived.

Please JJ Abrams show Jar Jar frozen in carbonite somewhere in Episode 7 as an easter egg in the background of some scene in a garbage area or something!

The Gungans weren't added in the 1997 edition, that was in 2004.
