This is great but I still wonder if there is going to be a star wars party ala "The Last Tour to End or".

I was hoping for something like that too but with the news that the new SW attractions won't be ready until 2017 I doubt we will get much to "celebrate" in the actual parks. Maybe the new plans will be unveiled at the convention itself.

I read a post somewhere, not to expect the "special event" at
Disneyland like it was at Disney World. They do their events
entirely different. Of course it would be nice but I never get my
hopes up until we're within spittin' distance of the convention.
Then, we'll see if anything comes up.

There was no special event at the last Celebration in Orlando either. Just special tickets available after 4pm.

Now I have booked my flights, I have an hotel room for the whole week, and me and the guy I'm travelling with have decided to go to Las Vegas after Celebration. I'm getting ready.

When is the best time to book flights? Is it too soon? Is it better to wait a bit?

I have always heard it said that 7 weeks before you go is the best time to book. Although you can get those fare trackers that alert you to the best price.

In my experience, 3-4 months out is the sweet spot when it comes to the lowest fares.

I booked my flight back in April and as I expected,
the rates did go up. On certain days there was a
drop but not as much as I paid.

The only problem in April near to LA is always get cold and rains too much.
Well what I remember when I lived near to the coast.
Wondering if I can go is a vendor.

I have several SW's things I want to get away but . Sales taxes.
    Stuck in one place. Etc.

I am booking by Amtrak next year since trains never get so full on round trips.

Hello out there in Star Wars Land! The Celebration in April will be my first. Any tips? Also, are there any fan-lead events that will be taking place near the Celebration?

Based on my experiences at CE in London - wear comfortable shoes, take more money than you think you will need, and wear either cool clothes or layers (like a sweater over a T-shirt). CE was in July and the air conditioning wasn't working in the convention center on the last day. It was stuffy! The center did have a couple of ATMs but the lines were long, hence the money warning.

When it comes to air conditioning, American convention centres are usually a lot better than the European ones, the last few in Orlando I've been freezing in just a t-shirt.

As for fan-lead events outside of the convention it's usual that the different clubs organize things for their members. At CVI there was also a night club one of the nights, open to all visitors, but so far we don't really know much about what will happen. I can bet on that a lot of fans coming in from outside of California will head to Disneyland the days before.

The past two celebrations in Orlando, and every convention I've been to in Chicago, I've been freezing during the panels. It's one thing to walk around the floor and be shoulder to shoulder with so many people, but when you're sitting down with a chair-sized buffer between people is a whole different story. I always just wear a t-shirt and carry a hoodie with me to throw on when my teeth inevitably start chattering during a panel.

I'm thinking of hitting up Disneyland as well, since I've missed it every time I've been to California so far. No plans yet tho.
