No. Kal Skirata married an outsider, all three of his kids chose non-Mandalorian lives, and he was still considered a Mando.

Yuuzhan Vong era. Fett is Mandalore.

Part of my story starts with Fett arbitrating the Republic's desire to extricate the Mandalorian who murdered a Republic Naval Officer (the Chief Engineer on a Medical Frigate, and the man who assaulted and murdered the Mando's wife).

Sounds interesting I'm looking forward to reading it when you get around to posting it.

Is there some sort of rite one can call on to request arbitration from the Mandalore?

I'm thinking the pursuing Jedi invokes this to request an audience with Fett.

I would say that it vary with the interpretation of the mandos, if you want them to be more like an old school warrior society there is probably noting exactly written down and you best walk up to the nearest important looking mando and ask her how you get in contact with the head honcho. If you more want them to be like how our society looks so would I recommend going to the ambassador, theirs or the Republic's one on Mandalore.

I don't think there was anything like that. Fett wasn't on Mandalore most of the time and let the Mandos run themselves. I don't think he would have paid much mind to a request like that.

    Thanks Chyntuck.

Thanks Briannakin for some reason, I am not sure he ever knew the grave was there. But again I may be getting fan fiction mixed up with the books.

I figured arbitration is handled by heads of clans, or if in between clans in Mandalorian society by a third party arbiter.

But for interstellar incidents I figured senior Mando'ade or the Mandalore himself arbitration would be provided.

I doubt Mandalorians had much use for diplomats in their history.

I think so also, and in most societies you can appeal to a higher instance if you don't like the decision made and in the end the highest instance is the Mandalore.

We have to remember that the mandolorians have had contacts with the republic for over 35.000 years and the idea that they have more or less remain unchanged for all this time is total bantha poodoo and the last century is not the first time the mandolorians have split in fractions. If we go by my old joke list of unremembered Mandalores so could I see Mandalore the Trader, Mandalore Peacemaker, Mandalore Friend-maker, Mandalore the Peaceful, Mandalore Longtrader, Mandalore Jedi-pal and Mandalore Road builder use diplomats.
There is also possible that many of the warlord Mandalores used diplomats to sow discord between future targets, just like many real-life conquers in history.

Is there some form of oath Mando'ade take when they decide to pursue vengeance? I recall that in Mandalorian culture there are various gods for the more religious among the lot, and it's not inconceivable they would have some god of vengeance in the pantheon.

Mandos did away with their gods. Modern Mandalorians didn't have any practiced religion. And if they wanted to take vengeance they just went ahead and took care of business.

That's what I figured. I recall something along those lines from the Mandalorian entry on Wookiepedia. Thanks.

How would one describe the respirator Valorum wears in The Star Wars? I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile but I'm stuck.

When it comes to questions regarding the mandos I would recommend also asking them in this thread - Oya manda!: The Mandalorian/Republic Commando Fan Club

Also I would say that a lot of it depends on which version of the mandolorians you was planning to use as your main inspiration: Marvel, Del Ray* or the Clone Wars?
The same goes for which one of Fett's three-four personalities you plan to use.

    * who, to my understanding, can be split in two.

Well it has given me some new inspiration. What do you think of this?

The mask covered half his face. From his nose to his chin, and finally curling around his cheeks to meet his ears.

I don't know if I'm just not looking in the right spot or what, but when the 91st Corps is off doing army stuff during the Clone Wars, does their main ship have a name? Mace Windu is one of the leaders of the 91st but I can't seem to find any info about their ship (unlike the 501st having The Resolute or the 212th having The Negotiator*).

*Of course Obi-Wan's battleship would be named The Negotiator. I don't know why I expected anything different.

If it isn't named, invent your own.

In real-world military forces, and especially the United States Marine Corps, individual units of soldiers are seldom permanently attached to warships, and even a aircraft carrier battle group can be made up of different escorting vessels now and again (this usually prompts a redesignation of said battle group).

Suggestions for a habitable world that would be a good place for a human mother and child to be exiled after a war? I'm willing to make up a planet, but first I'd like to see what y'all know might be out there. Should be reasonably politically connected to the New Republic and have a solid infrastructure in terms of educational possibilities.

    How about Darkknell?

It's pretty close to Sullust, so I can imagine that it wasn't long after the New Republic was established that it would have been liberated from the Empire.

Thank you, Goodwood! This is so helpful. I like it's location on the map, so I will definitely consider it.

A follow-up question, and this is for anyone: in what location should I place an Original Planet that's #1 resource is related to ship repairs, military assets? I'd imagine it would have to be somewhere near a major trade route. My ideal is something not too far out of the way. It has to be close enough to have done business with (and been relatively left alone by) the Empire, but be in a strategic position to have helped the Alliance when they made their push to take back Coruscant after Endor. Bilbringi's on the opposite side of the core from Endor, so I'm not sure something in that vicinity works, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm not all that familiar with the ship-building/military materiel worlds.
