^^I have that book, too. And I love it. As to the OP's question:

    Raiders
    Temple Of Doom
    Last Crusade
    Crystal Skull

Not too long ago, I would have rated Last Crusade above Temple Of Doom, but recently I have come to appreciate TOD.

Temple of Doom wins the gold medal in pure escapism. I like that it feels like an interlude in Indy's life. He's not going on a job for the museum, he's stranded in the absolute middle of nowhere and ends up getting roped into a rescue mission. There are magical artifacts, but they almost feel like an afterthought - the main thing is "save the children," which makes him feel less like a tomb raider and more like a knight errant from the classic stories. The bad guys are an ancient and supernatural evil that's over the top in a way that even the Nazis couldn't be. It doesn't feel like a major moment in his life, unlike the other movies. It's basically just a pure thrill ride from beginning to end.

I'm about 100% that this is against the TOS.

South Pak maybe, but South Park (and much as we may like it) certainly violates the TOS!

Mod action: added a warning to the posts containing the South Park link - it's pretty well-known material, so not removing.

I may have asked before, but who's your favorite villain in the series? Mola Ram is easily mine, such a scary, evil and nightmarish character.

This dude (Toht)'s my favourite as the most iconic, but Mola Ram is played very well too.

    My ranking:

    1) ROTLA - Definitive
    2) TLC - 11 o'clock
    3) TOD - Strong Bridge
    4) KOTCS - Like a broom to their footprints

That's the current ranking, but KOTCS is at a disadvantage as I've only seen it 3 times, and not as a kid, so it's nowhere near as embedded as the others.

Toht's a great foe. Even though he isn't seen much, you never forget it when you do see him. Even as a kid I always thought he was extremely sinister and unnerving.

Either Last Crusade or Raiders, depending on my mood, then Crystal Skull (by dint of only one movie to a slot, then Temple.

    Raiders
    Temple of Doom
    Last Crusade
    Crystal Skull

I like them in order. If I had been asked 20 years ago, I would have put Temple of Doom ahead of Raiders. As I've gotten a little older, I've grown to like Raiders a little more than Temple of Doom. I loved the first 2 films when I saw them in theaters, but was a little put off by the excessive gags in Last Crusade. However, it's still a fun film, and I've grown to like it more over the years. Sorry, Crystal Skull fans, but I've never liked this film. I hated it the first time I saw it in the theater. I gave it another chance on DVD and hated it just as much.

Me too. I'm sure they wanted him to have a robotic hand or arm too, which would have made him even more menacing watching it as a kid.

They certainly played on that almost effortless sense of menace he has when he confronts Belloq & Marion in the tent, pulls out a metal bar with a chain attached, they gasp, he twists it - and folds it into a coat-hanger.

He doesn't need to do anything to be menacing, its a great bit of acting. Although I've not seen it Speilberg used the coat hanger gag in 1941 that was made a couple of years before Rairders.

Toht is a perfect example of a villain who may not get much screentime but he's unforgettable with the scenes he gets. Hard not to feel a strong sense of unease every time he appears in the film.
