TV Discussion An Old Republic Live Action Show

What are your thoughts on this and do you want it or not.

 

I think this would just go in the official live action show thread.

 

Well I guess we can't do anything tell a mod gets here.

 

I'd love a show about Sith Lords who control parts of the galaxy and plot against each other (like Knight Errant).

 

Aren't they bringing back Darth Revan?! Maybe at some point they can focus a show on him and Malak. Mini-series or TV series yo can get more out've than 3-6 films.

 

Only if it confirms the EU/TOR history and re-asserts it in canon. If it were to totally ignore it and overwrite it with something completely different, it would be squarely in "do not want" territory.

 

Whatever they do, canonizing the Sith Empire symbol from TOR would be absolutely unacceptable to me. I can't stand how TOR retconned the Imperial symbol into a Sith symbol.

 

Like a Sith Game of Thrones? Or more Shakespearean than that?

 

Yup. That's exactly what I had in mind.

 

That could potentially be full of amazing visual images/cinematography, if given a budget that allows it to be.

 

Does this mean we should get Maise Williams to be a Sith Apprentice?

 

I'd love one. Probably won't have Revan in it due to the EU wipe.

Do you think Revan could appear in canon again and I think a for or motor show would need rev an at least once to get me into the era.

 

I actually think that the EU wipe could be good for Revan considering what happens in the Revan novel and SWTOR.

 

I agree but I still want to see him with a few tweaks.

 

Knowing Disney, they'll have all the traits and backstory of revan, but not call him Revan.

 

That would suck.

 

I'm sure Lucasfilm wouldn't allow that to happen. He's still Reven in the online SWTOR. But I'm not sure if that's canon anymore.

 

I'd love an Old Republic trilogy of feature films, but an ongoing live action series would be terrific. I'd love it.

That said, what is this talk of bringing Revan back to the canon? Not that I would be against the idea (I like Revan quite a lot, actually), but this is the first I'm hearing of it.

Have I missed something? Can anyone provide a source?

Right, which is one of the reason why I wonder where anyone may have gotten the idea that Revan will be coming back?

Again, not that I wouldn't love to see it happen -- I absolutely would -- but if there's been even a hint of word of this happening, it's news to me.

 

Well, there hasn't been anything yet. But I wasn't sure if the SWTOR online game was canon anymore. I guess it wouldn't be?

 

Maybe it is best to have a animated old republic series (in similar appearence to TCW), a live action would probably be to expensive.

 

As far as I know, no, it is not considered canon.

From the old regime, only Episodes I-VI and TCW carried over. Happily, everything released from here on out will be considered canon (I think this is a good idea - no more "is it, or isn't it?"). The only possibility I can see is because TCW is canon, and because concept art/a character model for Revan was worked-up for the show, then maybe the idea of Revan is in. But as it was never actually used in the show, I don't think that would count.

However, the good news is that if Revan should ever appear again, even in something as simple as a name-drop mention in a future novel (like, say, in the upcoming Lords of the Sith), then he is in!

And I hope it eventually happens. Not only because I love him, but because a lot of fans have really embraced the character. I think that if the Story Group were to say, "yes, the character of Revan (the design, the basic premise) is going to appear and be made canon, but we reserve the right to not be constrained by his earlier story line, moving forward," then it's a kind of 'win/win' scenario.

I wonder how other fans of the character might feel about a move like that? Heck, if we were told that we were getting an Old Republic trilogy or live action show featuring Revan (but with an all-new story line)? Oh, I'd be ALL. OVER. THAT.

Throw in the Mandalorians. Plenty of Sith intrigue.

Come on, who wouldn't love that?
